Time

Aim: Observe the uses of indirect questions.


Intro

Ss watch a video Do you like getting packages in the mail?


T hands out work sheets and writes on board some useful examples of indirect
questions.

1st day

T asks Ss to form groups of 3 and explains the task they will do; In each group you
have 1 interviewer, 1 celebrity and 1 interpreter.
Ss work in groups changing the roles they had at the beginning.
Setting the task

T monitors constantly Ss work and shapes the language they use.


T invites some students to come in front of the class and practice the role play.
Ss create their own role plays and act them in class.
Aim: Use a mapped dialogue to role play a polite conversation, asking for
information.

Planning the task

T hands out a mapped dialogue and asks Ss to role play a polite conversation
between a passenger and a flight reservation clerk.

Ss elicit some ideas for each of the cues and write them in their notebooks.
Development of the

T reminds Ss to use the indirect question form as well as polite offers and requests,
Would you like ? and Id like
Ss practice in pairs and then swap roles.

T monitors constantly Ss work and shapes the language they use.


Aim:
Report

Feedback

Create indirect questions and report them in class.

Ss are asked to write five sentences, they choose the topic. They are
required to use different tenses. (Individual work)

Ss practice by reporting to the other classmate what the sentence was about.
(Student A reads the sentence; student B reports; student C listens); then
they take turns.

T monitors and shapes the language students use in order to make it


accurate.

T. writes the following questions on the board and asks Ss:
