Adobe InDesign & Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:

Create a new logo to represent a business/company.

Design an appealing layout to reach target audience.
Showcase skills gained in Illustrator and InDesign.

Process:
I first used Adobe Illustrator to create my logo. I started by using
the ellipse tool and created two petal shapes. I then added a gradient
mesh and I colored the points how they looked most appealing. The
two petals had different gradients so that it would look more
natural. Next, I copied each petal several times and then arranged
them into a flower shape. The center of the flower was much harder
for me to create. I tried using the gradient mesh but it didnt look
how I wanted so I created a big circle and then several little ones
with the ellipse tool and then added a different type of gradient to
create a 3D look.
Lastly, I combined everything I created into Adobe InDesign so
that I could organize the business cards and add text to them. I also
added a few images from the web for the social media icons on the
business card front.

Objectives:

Create three varying logos for one company.

Use Adobe Illustrator tools to create the logos.

Process:

Ive enjoyed designing these logos in Adobe Illustrator. I used the

ellipse tool to create the the roundness of the donuts and then pen
tool to add the sprinkles to the top of the donuts. I was careful to
pick out my color schemes because I didnt want them to
overpower the overall design and message of the logos. I was going
for simplistic and chic. Next I searched for fonts that would best fit
the company that the logo was created for and made different
variations of the companys name.

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

Capture a well composed photograph.

Edit it using Adobe Photoshop.

Process:

I first chose a color scheme to work with and then set out to photograph it. Luckily I was able to find a good example of it in nature
so, I used a Canon Powershot SX40 HS to capture my image. I
then used photoshop to complete specific editing techniques: levels,
sharpness, saturation, and color balance. After I did that, I composed
an 8.5 x 11 layout of my image and added text. I then created a border and colored it using a color in my color scheme. Lastly, I inserted boxes filled with the colors in my color scheme and named what
color scheme I used.

Objectives:

Combine images in Adobe Photoshop using a mask.

Add a spiritual saying/element.

Process:

I found two images that represented the message I wanted to convey.

I set up my file size to be 8.5 x 11 and then uploaded my two images
in the order I wanted them.
Next I used a feathered crop tool to cut out what I wanted my top
image to be.
Then clicked the masking button and set my brush opacity to 23%
and went to work blending my images together.
I added text and then overlayed the image so that the words would
blend with the background.

Objectives:

Create a full-bleed event ad using only Microsoft Word

and a scanner.

Process:

I scanned an image and then inserted it into Microsoft Word. I then

used the shape tool to place a large rectangle as my background and
reordered the images so that the picture of macaroons was on top.
Next I filled in my background rectangle so that it was violet, then
I used the transparency tool in order to lighten the color. I used an
option in the format section to change my image into an oval with a
white border. Next I aligned my title with my image and then added
more shapes in a violet shade. Lastly I added text and made sure the
font was a good contrast against the title font.

Objectives:

Create an original logo.

Design a brochure layour in InDesign.

Process:

First I created my logo in Adobe Illustrator. I wanted something

simple and representative of nature so I created my own N and
added leaves to it. I also created the design break after and before
the paragraphs in Illustrator. Then I went into Adobe InDesign and
set up my rulers and margins so I would know where to fold and
place things correctly. After I did that I found what images I wanted
to use and added them into my brochure. When I had compiled all
the images and information I wanted into my brochure I printed it to
see if I had any errors I did. I went to work to fix them moving
my images and text around and adding things until it looked right. I
printed it again, cut it, and folded it until it was right.

Objectives:

Create a flier to be distributed to graduate students using Adobe

InDesign.

Process:

I started by creating sketches to brainstorm ideas for layout design.

After I settled on a sketch I liked I began creating it in Adobe
InDesign. I focused a lot on the flow of the design, making sure that
whoever viewed it would have no trouble following it or
understanding the message. I created the title to be the focal point
by using a gray scale gradient. Lastly I made sure that the negative
space had an outlet and there was an appropriate amount. I was
provided with the image, logo, and content.

Objectives:

Code a web page to include a personally made logo.

Process:

I created this web page with Notepad++. Working html and css was
not easy for me but it was definitely interesting. I found it
fascinating to learn about all that goes into designing and creating a
web page. I relied a lot on w3schools.com to make this web page.
I started off by creating and html document then adding css to it. I
found a seamless image to use as my background and coded that in
with it. Next I coded headings, paragraphs, and lists.
