“St. Francis Xavier, a welcoming faith community lovingly sharing the gifts of God.”

4TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

JANUARY 31ST, 2010
PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently
especially Theresa Lynch, Gerald Donohue and Roland Goulet.
PRAYERS FOR THE SICK AND SHUT-IN: “Let us raise up in prayer those who seek
God’s healing love, those at the hospital, hospice and at home. May your struggle be
consoled by Christ’s love“.

HAITI RELIEF FUND: In answer to the request made by the Holy Father and in con-
junction with the Bishops of Canada, Bishop Mulhall is appealing to your generosity to come
to the aid of the population of Haiti in its hour of need. Development & Peace is the national or-
ganization of our Church that will likely be the venue for the campaign’s distribution.
Cheques, marked “Haitian Relief Fund” should be made out to St. Francis Xavier Parish
for tax receipt purposes. To be eligible for matching grants from the Federal Government,
contributions must be made between January 12 and February 12. We encourage you to join
our special collection. Your are also free to bring donations to the parish office at any time.
We pray that the Holy Spirit will touch the hearts of the world population as we all respond
to this appeal for generosity and solidarity in the present emergency campaign.
To date $7,355.00 has been donated by our parishioners. May God bless you!

CELEBRATING EUCHARIST: We expect our Church in Canada to issue a new “Sacramentary” in 2011.
It will affect the way we all celebrate daily Mass and Sunday Eucharist. We will need time to review,
reflect on, and implement a few things that will deepen our appreciation of the celebration of
our Sacrament. Continuing until Lent, we are using the homily time to look at our current celebration
of Eucharist, what the liturgy is meant to be, and how each of us can fully participate in celebrating Mass.
Feb. 6 – 7 - The Communion Rite Feb. 13 – 14 - The Dismissal Rite

Dear Friends: Please accept my heartfelt thanks and that of my sister and her family
for the prayerful support and many messages
messages of condolence at the time of my niece
Emilie’s death. Many of you prayed for her over the past several years as she continued
to live through two double lung transplants as a result of Cystic Fibrosis. She was a
great believer in the power of prayer and
and encouraged each of us to keep them up on her
behalf. Again, thank you and God bless! Sister Sheila
P.S. – I miss you!

share with these children our Catholic faith, we as a faith community offer our on-
