POLICY STATEMENT

INTELLIGENCE MANAGEMENT
Statement of Policy
The Wiltshire Constabulary operates the National Intelligence Model as a corporate framework to bring
together best practices in intelligence led initiatives, offering a blue-print to develop strategies that will improve
the quality of life within our communities. This approach should not be seen as focusing purely on crime, but
capable of being adapted to all other aspects of policing.
Aims of the Policy

We will ensure that the management of all intelligence is conducted in an ethical, non-discriminatory and
efficient manner.
Working together with our extended police family and partnership agencies, we will focus resources by
utilising intelligence to maximise the impact on crime within our community.
Strategic Aims Linked to This Policy

Reducing and detecting crime.


To develop safer communities through partnerships.
To seek, in partnership with other agencies, to reduce road traffic casualties.
To ensure continuing organisational development.

In writing this policy the main implications of the above Act, together with the Disability Act (Amendment)
Regulations 2000 have been taken into account.
Race Equality and Diversity Impact
This policy has been assessed for relevance to the general duty, to promote race equality under the Race
Relations (Amendment) Act 2000. Our assessment has shown that this policy and its aims are likely to have a
high relevance on the duty to:

Elimination of unlawful racial discrimination


Promotion of equality of opportunity
Promotion of good race relations.
In this regard a full race equality impact assessment will be undertaken in accordance with the Racial Equality
Scheme Action Plan.
