Brochure
Instructer: Cory Kerr
Date: March 14, 2015
Course: Comm 130-03
Programs Used: Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
Description: A two sided Brochure
Objectives; Set up and align a two-sided, folded
document. Create an original, new logo and use it in a
brochure. Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at
least four quality images, not including the logo.
Process: I first started this project by sketching, my
ideas and deciding on how I want my project to look.
After that I looked up pictures, to see the theme I wanted
to go with. I then moved to indesign, and after setting
my guides, I began working on my background. On I
wanted it to have a feel of a lemonade stand. I wanted
the color-scheme to match this. I then used Illustrator to
make my logo, I used the pen tool, and the eclipse tool
to make the o in lemon be the shape of a lemon. I then
added this to my Indesign. I then worked on cutting out
the background of my lemon, lemonade glass.I decided
to try using a branch of lemons. I loved this. I wanted to
cut the background out. This paid of when I went text
wrap my body copy. I am really happy with the way
this turned out. I wanted to add some more color, so I
went with blue and red, so I went with gingham print, it
reminded me of, a lemonade stand.

Stationary

Date: March 1, 2015
Course: Comm 130-03
Programs Used: Photoshop, Adobe Indesign, and
Adobe Illustrator
Description: Letterhead designed using a personally
created logo.
Objectives: Create three completely different, original
logos to fit a company or personal image that will appeal
to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use
previous designs.
Process: For this logo, I made the tie using simple shapes
on Illustrator. I then added the typography. Because of
the tie, I used a more simple classic type.
For the document, I added the tie, that I used on the
front, to keep it connected. I then used the type tool,
to add the title of my event center, using the same
typography. I then added the same text copied from the
front of the business card.

Photodesign
Instructer: Cory Kerr
Date: February 1, 2015
Course: Comm 130-03
Programs Used: Photoshop
Description: Demonstrating how to use Photoshop and
incorporating a per-decided color scheme.
Objectives: Choose a color scheme, take a photo to
match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the
layout.
Process: To decide which color scheme to use, I went
to my Visual Focus Book. This helped me decide what
colors i would need for a picture. I decided to do a split
complementary. I went to the grocery, having decided
what colors of fruit I would need. I ran into another
problem however, Fruit is not always the color it is
suppose to be depending in the ripeness. This shifted
my color scheme just a tad. I then went and go a cannon
DSL camera form the the library to take this picture. I
then brought this photo into Photoshop, to enhance the
vibrancy, levels, sharpness, and color balance. I also used
it to cut out my background of my image.I then used the
eyedropper, to get matching colors, and decided on a
repeating element.

Logos
Instructer: Cory Kerr
Date: February 22, 2015
Course: Comm 130-03
Programs Used: Adobe Ilustrator
Description: Three logo variations for the same
company.
Objectives: Create three completely different, original
logos to fit a company or personal image that will appeal
to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use
previous designs.
Process: This project was very helpful to learn how to
use illustrator. For the first logo, I played around with
different fonts and font sizes, Iike a spool of thread. To
make the spool, I made one side and corner, and then I
used the reflector/rotation tool to finish it off. I then just
made it the same size of the other lettering. To make
the button, deleted the middle of the O, and using the
ellipse tool, I created two matching circle to make it
look like buttons. For the stitching I used the pen tool.
For the second Logo, I picked a font that I could easily
manipulate with many anchor points. I started by
trimming away the sides to make it look like a needle.
For my third logo, I wanted to make it look like a button.
I didnt however want it too look like the average button.
I started with the ellipse, and made two circle of similar
size and three circles of a much smaller size. to make the
holes of the button.

Flyer
Instructer: Cory Kerr
Date: January 31, 2015
Course: Comm 130-03
Programs Used: Indesign
Description: Black and White flyer promoting the
Graduate Leadership Conference for Graduating
Seniors.
Objective: Apply the design principles and use
appropriate typographyIncorporate basic InDesign
skills to improve basic flier layout.
Process: The Process of this project, began on paper. I
first made many different sketches. The final product
however was a joining of three of those sketches. I used
these sketches as I began to work in InDesign. I started
with the black and gray boxes to reflect the colors of the
picture I would be using. I wanted the picture to catch
the eye and then lead it to a clear and readable title with
high contrast. I also wanted a balance of positive and
negative space. For this flyer I was given the image, text,
and logo.

Montage
Instructer: Cory Kerr
Date: February 14, 2015
Course: Comm 130-03
Programs Used: Photoshop
Description: An inspirational montage made by
the blending of two or more images, and the use of
typography.
Objectives: Learn to blend two or more images together
gradually, using masks. Demonstrate more advanced
Photoshop skills for layout with multiple elements. Use
a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while
designing): For this project, I began by looking for a
message/quote that I would like to design around. I was
looking for some inspiration. When I found this quote
that I used I started looking for image that went with it.
I then thought of an image that would represent a world
and decided to use just that, a world map. This map
however had words, and website written in red on it, so I
had to use the spot healing brush to blend out the words.
I then picked an image of a sunrise. I then wanted the
beams to have a little more texture. I searched for sun
texture and found this image of sun droplets, I added a
mask, and blended that into the sunrise image. I ended
up using three different images, and grouped them
together. I then added my text.

Event Flyer
Instructer: Cory Kerr
Date: February 1, 2015
Course: Comm 130-03
Programs Used: Microsoft Word
Description: A color full-bleed event flyer made using
Microsoft Word and a Scanner.
Objectives: Find, scan and import a high-quality image.
Create a full-bleed design.Choose a color scheme and
typeface(s) that work for your message and audience.
Process: This flyer has changed so many times. I first
began making a flyer using the image that I scanned
for the scan project. This image was a great image, but I
had a hard time making the message work. So I went to
the library and found a new image. After that I played
around with colors and lines. I chose two contrasting
fonts, I kept the contrast between the background and
the text low, because I did not want to distract from the
ballerina as the focal point.
