Author in the above passage having said that "there should be some other reason
for less sales of foreign motorcycle company". Author compares the sales of cars
with sales of motorcycle and mentions that in television advertisements, noisen
ess is not highlighted.
Firstly Author states that, though one foreign company has copied the motorcycle
X and is selling for lesser price, foreign company has failed to attract the mo
torcycle X customers. Author compares the sales of foreign cars with the sales o
f the foreign motorcyle. Foreign cars which is similar to the design of America
n-made cars is sold equally as compared to sales of American cars. Some claims t
hat failure to attract motorcycle X customers is due to lack of loud noise made
by motorcycle X.
Author cannot compare a motorcycle and a car. A car can have more number of feat
ures such as interiors, body look, front grills, leather seat, user-friendly das
hboard etc. Hence people are more attracted towards it even if it is not America
n-made cars. But a bike have limited number of entities which people can get att
rached such as noise, look, colors and designs.
Secondly Author mentions that, recent television advertisement highlight only th
e durability and sleek lines and not the noiseness. Also the sound track of the
advertisement is just a voice-overs or rock music rather than engine-roar. But A
uthor cannot conclude just by looking in latest television advertisements. Since
motorcycle X is there in production for past 70 years, it could ber very well k
nown to all the people that motorcycle X is famous for its loud noise. Hence the
re is no need for the motorcycle company to advertise its noiseness or engine so
und in the television.

If Author had addressed about its previous television advertisements and if Auth
or had compared it with another foreign company which has lesser sales but conta
ins noiseness feature, then conclusion would have been more meaningful.
Author in the above passage having said that "lack of loud noise is not the reas
on but there should be some other reason for less sales of foreign motorcycle co
mpany" is assumed wrongly to arrive a logical conclusion. Ways have been suggest
ed above to make the conclusion more logical.
