was founded on November 3, 2014
with 15 incorporators representing
different fisherfolk associations and
barangays in the City.
It was formed primarily to assist the
City Government of Zamboanga
through the Office of the City
Agriculturist in the preparation and
implementation of local fishery
development plans. The Federation
also seeks to enhance and defend the
interest of the members and acquire
projects and other form of assistances
from the government for poverty
alleviation and industry development.

The Fish and Fish Products Industry is
one of the six identified priority
industries in Region 9 and is one of the
two major agricultural industries in the
City of Zamboanga.
There is abundance of different species
of fish from various sources commercial
fishing, marine municipal fishing, inland
municipal fishing and aquaculture. This
abundance somehow results to over
supply of raw fish in the market.
Value adding activities such as the
processing of fish products allows
fisherfolks and aquaculture farm
operators/owners to penetrate new
markets; and save their harvests from
spoilage in instances when the
market/consumers are already unable to
absorb the supply of raw fish.
The Federation consists of some
members who are already into the
processing of fish products such as

boneless bangus, fish embutido, fish


balls, and smoked fish. However, the
current facilities used have insufficient
equipment, tools and implements to fully
utilize available raw products.
