Sagon, Candy. "Caffeine for Your Health Too Good to Be True?" AARP. AARP, 30
Oct. 2013. Web. 04 Mar. 2015.
Searching for government-based websites, I found AARP.org. I found an
electronically published article weighing the pros and cons of coffee drinking.
This website is very reliable because it is that of a very well respected
establishment. It is useful to me because it is the foundation of my argument. It
supports both sides of the argument and is well written. It offers information for
both sides of the argument of health and tells how coffee can benefit and harm the
body. It also broadens my argument because they claim that unfiltered coffee can
raise your cholesterol level substantially. There is recent debate that cholesterol is
no longer bad for you and that you no longer need to limit your intake. I now need
to clarify if cholesterol is good or bad for you in order to list that coffee fact as a
pro or con. I will use this in my EIP because of its many facts about coffee.
Jaffee, Daniel. Brewing Justice: Fair Trade Coffee, Sustainability, and Survival.
Berkeley: University of California Press, 2007. Print.
I found this source searching in the library database. The source is reliable
because I found it in the library database. It is very well written and is useful to
me because it describes a study done on coffee farmers in Mexico and the social,
economic, and environmental impacts made in the fair trade coffee market. In my
EIP, I will need to elaborate and explain what exactly Fair Trade Coffee is and
explain the benefits and drawbacks of the coffee industry. It relates to my

argument because as a consumer, you directly affect these farmers. I will use this
in my EIP because it shares positive and negative effects of the coffee industry.
Gilman, Lisa. Grounds for Resistance: Stories of War, Sacrifice, and Good Coffee. New
York, N.Y: Films Media Group, 2011. Internet resource.
I found this source in the library database. This source is reliable because I found
it in the library database. It is very well written and useful to me because it
explains a benefit of coffee, socialization. It tells the story of the Iraq and
Afghanistan war veterans who decided to open a coffee shop near a military base.
It explains why they opened it and tells of many other veterans stories of war.
Although it mainly focuses on their stories, the whole concept is very useful to
my EIP because it provides a benefit to coffee. This source provides a major
benefit in coffee, the culture. Coffee culture is all over the world. People gather
for conversation with a cup frequently and this is a prime example of a few
veterans realizing that. I will use this source in my EIP for the great example it
provides benefiting coffee culture..
Martnez-Torres, Maria E. Organic Coffee: Sustainable Development by Mayan Farmers.
Athens, Ohio: Ohio University Center for International Studies, 2006. Print.
I found this source in the library database. This source is reliable because I found
it in the library database. It is very well written and explains how the Mayan
farmers in Chiapas, Mexico are economically benefiting from cultivating coffee
beans. It explains that the area is starved financially and struggling in many other
areas, but the coffee farmers are environmentally and economically succeeding.
This source proves another great point about the benefits of coffee. Coffee is in

such high demand, that most farmers in the business are living quite well in
comparison to the others in their country. Coffee is in constant demand and these
farmers from Chiapas are great examples of successful coffee farmers. I will use
this in my EIP because of its strong points that benefit coffee.
Taylor, Sarah R, and Barbara Demmig-Adams. "To Sip or Not to Sip: the Potential
Health Risks and Benefits of Coffee Drinking." Nutrition & Food Science. 37.6
(2007): 406-418. Print.
I found this source using the library database. This source is reliable because I
found it through the library database and it is peer reviewed. It is well written and
supplies many facts that support the pros and cons of coffee drinking. This source,
just like the one from AARP, mentions the raise in cholesterol. This again opens
up another conversation in my EIP, whether cholesterol is good or bad for you. I
also found many great details on how coffee is loaded with antioxidants that can
help prevent the body from certain diseases. I will use this in my EIP because it
supports both arguments with substantial evidence.
