I have included several different types of practice pages. I recommend that you
try this WITHOUT thread at first; this will give you a feel for the machine without
getting your thread all bunched up.
Many beginners (especially kids) look at the needle
when they sew; as a result, they have trouble sewing a
straight line. So...I recommend that you line the edge of
the foot up with the line on pages 2, 3, and 4 (rather
than sew directly on the lines). This will help you learn
to watch the edge of the foot rather than the needle.
Another issue that many beginners have is that they
start sewing when their foot is up...which makes a
horrible sound and tangles the thread. The connect-thedots should help with this!

Page 2: Straight Lines. The goal for this page is

to sew a straight line. Line the RIGHT edge of the
foot up with the line and follow the line. Keep your eye on where the line
meets the edge of the foot.

Pages 3 & 4: Curves. The goal for these pages is develop foot/speed
control. You have to go slowly! Line the edge of the foot up with the line and
sew!

Pages 58: Connect-the-Dots. The goals for these pages are (1)
remember to lift and lower your foot and (2) develop pivoting skills (stopping
with your needle down, lifting your presser foot, pivoting the paper, putting
your foot back down, and sewing). Start with 1 and sew to 2 then stop
with your needle down, lift your presser foot, turn the paper so you are
heading to 3, put the foot back down, and continue sewing.
