2 OUT OF 3 ALBERTANS SAY ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE

April 10th, 2015. New results from a Mainstreet Technologies poll of 3,067 Albertans finds that 66% of
Albertans disapprove of the early election call, over 46% strongly disapprove including 26% of PC
supporters. 66% of all voters think its time for a change of Government. The poll carries an overall margin
of error of +/- 1.78%, 19/20.
Despite what seems like overwhelmingly negative numbers, there are some highlights in these numbers
for the governing PCs. Only 46% of Albertans believe there is a viable alternative to the government among
the opposition parties. 63% of PC supporters dont believe it is time for a change of government and 52%
of their supporters also support the calling of the election. This means the PC base is solid and motivated,
said Quito Maggi, President of Mainstreet Technologies. "
"The real question is whether these numbers continue to hold in the weeks ahead as voters compare the
campaigns and leaders. If this election turns in to a referendum on the recent budget or the election itself,
the Premier could be in trouble."
"If the NDP can exploit the public anger at the recent budget and the election call, it could turn into the
most interesting Provincial election of recent history with a real 3 way race. Whether Rachel Notley can
convince Albertans that she is a viable alternative remains to be seen."
Highlights:
- 66% of voters oppose the calling of the election, 46% strongly
- 66% of voters think its time for a change of Government
- 46% believe one of the Opposition parties is a viable alternative
- 25% of PC supporters believe it is time for a change of Government
