Tube Lifting Sockets

Lifting sockets can be used for a wide range of precast
applications. Please see application guide.

Lifting Sockets
Economy Range

High-grade precision steel tube (20 CroMo) with

zinc-plated finish. Also available stainless steel,
see pages 2-2 and 2-17

An economical range of flat end lifting sockets for

loads up to 20 kN. Available in electroplated and
stainless steel.

Rd thread

Zincplated / Stainless Steel Grade 304

Lifting Sockets provide individual Safe Working Loads

from 5 kN up to 125 kN, depending on size specified.

For lifting reinforcement requirements please see

pages 25 to 28 inclusive.

Wavy Tail Anchors

Waved Anchors or
Socket with Additional
Reinforcement

For additional reinforcement

please see pages 27 and 28.

The waved anchor is used to transport pre-cast concrete

elements of varying dimensions. Elements with small
dimensions, for example thin facing panels (structural
layer of sandwich panels), beams or columns, can all
easily be transported using the waved anchor.

Crown Foot Anchor

Lifting Loop

The CFS Crown Foot Anchors are suitable for lifting the
lightweight flat pre-cast concrete units, such as the floor
panels, flat slabs etc. The advantage is that in most cases
no additional reinforcement is needed as the load is
transferred through the crown foot to the concrete.
Also suitable for use with our lift shaft suspension eyes.

The CFS lifting loop is designed for use with CFS threaded
socket systems. Loops are available from 12 to 52 mm
sizes in both Rd & M thread types. The load capacity for
each application is to be taken from the corresponding
tables. The CFS loops can be subjected to a diagonal
lift up to 45. If a transverse loading is to be applied, a
rotating eye should be used. Loops shoud be discarded
immediately if a wire strand has broken. M thread loops
can be used in either Rd or M thread sockets with no
reduction in load capacity. Rd thread loops should only
be used in Rd sockets.

Rotating Eye

Identification

The Rotating eye is used to transport pre-cast elements

with socket anchors. Due to the special assembly of
the rotating eye the head and the link can be turned
independently. Please note: the eye must be flush with
the concrete. In this way the correct load transfer into
the concrete is achieved. This is especially advantageous
for transverse and diagonal lift.

The following identification information data is stenciled

in every rotating eye (figure):

Use and Operation

The rotating eye is screwed into the lifting anchor. Insert
threaded bolt deep enough to achieve a close fit between
the concrete and the base plate. If the unit is lifted the
wide base plate is supported by the concrete, and an
undesirable bending of the threaded bolt is prevented.
For correct installation of the rotating eye it is essential
that: The contact surface of the base plate is absolutely at
right angles to the longitudinal axis of the lifting anchor.
If precast concrete units are being lifted with rotating
eyes, it is recommended to install the lifting anchor
with large plastic nailing plate. The rotating eye body is
tightened by hand against the concrete surface. Do not
use smaller recesses then the eye diameter.

The rotating eye can turn in any direction against the

Maintenance

Max. clearance between u

and lower part >S<

Rotating eyes are filled with grease during production

when first used. The compact design prevents penetration
of dirt. However should dirt have collected in the interior
of the rotating eye impairing an easy turning operation,
the turning mechanism can be oiled.

Attention
Before attaching put link in the correct position.

Design
The rotating eye is specially designed for inclined lifting
operations up to 90, when erecting precast concrete units
(figure). Since the eye swivels on the base plate, the oval
ring can turn in any direction of an angled pull, preventing
twisting of the threaded bolt. This means it is not possible
to loosen the baseplate.

Fixing Socket Cross Hole

Fixing Socket Bent

Fixing socket with cross hole is manufactured from either

high grade precision steel tube zinc plated or special
stainless steel tube. The reinforcement bar is inserted into
the hole for transfer of the dynamic forces into concrete.

Fixing socket with angular end transfers forces

directly into the concrete. Special reinforcement
bars are not required.

The nail plate is used to attach the socket anchors to

the formwork. The plastic nail plates are available for
thread sizes M/Rd12 to M/Rd20. The large plastic plates
are available for thread size Rd24 to Rd42. The plastic
nail plate produces a recess into which a lifter can be
threaded. The large plastic nail plate produces a recess into
which either a lifter or the rotating eye can be threaded.

Steel recess disc for use with CFS Rotating Eyes

Marking recess disc with fixing

These provide additional safety by marking the concrete
surface with an imprint of the thread size and load
capacity. The disc diameter is sufficient to allow rotating
eyes to be used with the cast in socket.
