FOREWORD
ThisarticlewascompiledforthesimplepublicreadersofDeStandaardandthereforedoesnotin
theleastclaimtobeastudywithascientificcharacter.Thereasonforthisstudyistheuntrueand
eventhoroughlyfalsepresentationbysomeofthebiggernewspapers,butespeciallybytheprovincial
press,aboutthemattersdiscussedinthisarticle.Almostwithoutexceptionitseemsthatthesearticles
promoteamovementwhereChristianhateagainsttheJewsisencouragedandfurthermoretheykeep
botheringwiththeircivilrights.AgainstthisdefamingattitudeoftheliberalistJewishpress,this
articlepresentsasingular,butalsoasufficientargument.AlsothepublicthatdonotreadtheDe
Standaard,willnowbeabletojudgeforthemselvesthedreadfulstateofthelovefortruthinmany
organsofpublicopinion.
Infact,whatisclearfromthesearticlesis:thatwesaidnothingagainsttheJews,butwehaditagainst
thedegenerateChristiansthatwerejecttheunkindwaymanyChristiansspeakabouttheJewsand
thatwewouldresistanyimpoundingoftherightsJewsmayhavetitleto.Thereisfurthermoreno
reasonfortheauthortospeakunkindlyoftheJews,because,sincechildhoodhewasprivilegedto
enjoythecompanyofoutstandingJewishfamilies,whoseexcellentqualitieshelearnedtoappreciate,

andhewouldbemostungratefultospeakunkindlyinpublicaboutpeoplewhoweresokindtowards
himinprivate.
LIBERALISTSANDJEWS
CHAPTERI
IncreasinglytheattentionofpublicopinionisdrawntotheunbelievableinfluenceoftheJewsonthe
destinyofEurope.Wearediscoveringthat,underthecloakofLiberalism,theJewsinfacthave
becamelordandmasterinourpartoftheworld,andtheycontrol,notonlythepublicopinioninmost
countries,butalsotheinternationalrelationsbetweenthegovernments.Oureyesareopeningtothe
factthatthecourseofeventsandeventhedevelopmentofchurchlifeandofcommunitylife,ina
surprisingway,canbeexplainedbytheJewishinfluenceifwearepreparedtoopenoureyes.And
themostpainfulwecannotdenythetruthistheunwillingnessofourpeopletorectifythis
irregularity.Infact,ourpeopleconsideritunthinkable.
Thereisanaturalreasonwhythisimportanttruthhasnotsurfacedearlierinthepublicconsciousness
ofourtime.OurpeopleshiesawayfromanewcombatagainsttheJews:WeChristianshavesinned
toogreatlyagainsttheJewsintheearlyages.FortoolongtheJewswerethepariahsofEuropeand
weretheirrightsandhumanitytrampleduponbyvolk[1]andrulers.OnlywiththeReformation
cameachangeinattitudeforthegood.Our(theDutchs)hospitablerulersgavetheJewaplacetolive
arespectablelife,wherehecouldlivehispeculiarlife,sociallyandreligiously,withhonor.Eventhen
theJewswereboundtoexceptionalregulationsaccordingtotheirexceptionalsituation.Until
eventuallytheFrenchrevolutioneradicatedalldiscriminationandbroughtunconditionalequality
betweenthecircumcisedandthebaptized.
Deeplyashamedoftheirownearlierunrighteousness,theChristiansapplaudedthemeaningfulfruitof
theFrenchRevolutionasoneofitsmostexcellentconsequences.Becauseoftheirfeelingofguilt,
theymissedthemoralagilityofanunchained,independentjudgmentwithwhichonlythegood
conscienceofthemanofcharacterisblessed.TheresultwasthetotalemancipationoftheJews.Not
accordingtotheprinciplesoftheGospel,butaccordingtoprinciplesdirectlyopposedtotheprinciples
oftheGospel.
Oncetheseprinciplesareaccepted,theLiberalistsforcetheissuetotheextentthatanunhealthy
admirationofJewsbecomesacceptableinthemorecivilizedcirclesofEurope.Andincompliance
withthelawoflogic,whichexpelsallgermsfromeveryideology,itfinallybroughtusinthe
defenselesspositionwhereeverywordspokenaboutJews,otherthanpraise,iscriticizedastreason
againsttheholycauseofcivilizationandprogress.
Andso,unnoticed,theJewwhopreviouslywereoutsidethelaw,nowbecameabovethelawandno
morecriticismofJewsexistanymoreandtheJewishelementwereabletocontinuetheiragenda
unhinderedandunpunishedsafelybehindtheimpregnableshieldofhistoricalinjustice.
Andevenmorenotable:whiletheJewishruleoverEuropeextendsitselfunhindered,moreandmore
everyyear,andeveryresistanceagainstitseemstobeparalyzedthespiritualawakeningofthe
ProtestantChristiansworkspowerfullytowardsthesameresult.Afterall,fromtheawakeningarisea
zealformissionworkandanincreasedinterestinthelatterdays.Thezealformissionworkthen
initiatedtheJewishmissionwhichwasdrivenbytheEnglish,ScottishandAmericanChristianswith
notablefinancialsacrifices.Christianmanunderstoodthatitwouldbeimmoralandincompleteto
emancipatetheJewswithoutpreachingthegospelofJesustothem.Theyfeltguiltybecauseofthe
past.Theywantedtomakeupfortheneglectofthepreviouslukewarmattitude.Andsothegold
flowsintotheofferchest,Hebrewlettersareintroducedintotheprintingpressandgroupsoflively
andgiftedmenareformedtooncemoreresoundtheancientcallamongIsrael:Repentye:forthe
kingdomofheavenisathand.
ThisbroughtaboutthatthousandsstartedspeakingofthepoorJewwithnoneotherthancompassion

andunlimitedconfidenceandbecausetheproverbistruethathewhoreceivesyourmoney,also
drawsyourlove,theendlesscollectionsforthecauseofJewishconversion,wasaninfalliblemeans
toensureawidelyacceptedkindhardheartednesswhichrefusedtohearanythingbutgoodaboutany
Jew.AndofalmostsimilarextentistheeschatologicalcourseonwhichChristianityembarkedthe
pastfewdecades.Thepremonitionisthataforcefulcatastropheisawaitinganditisselfevidentthat
thiscatastrophemightwellbelinkedtotheterribleeventswhichJesusandHisapostlesannouncedin
theNewTestament.
Theearlychurch,RomanaswellasReformed,undoubtedlydealttoosuperficiallyandlightlywith
theteachingofthelastdays.Besides,theabsenceofgoodandsolidtheologyaboutthefundamental
teachings,urgesmanyfreerspiritsinthishighAlpinelandwithitsindefiniteconfines,towander
abouttotheirheartscontent.Weparticularlyshouldntforgetthatifmanyscatteraboutconcerning
otherBiblicalteachings,acombinedexplorationonthisfloatingandinfirmterrainisacertain
possibility.
Itisselfevidentthatthisstudyoftheeschatology,whichoccupiesthespiritwiththeteachingofthe
latterdays,wouldnothavefoundthismomentum,ifthemeaningofIsraelasvolkwasnotbrought
totheattentionofourgenerationagain.Consequently,theattitudeofcharitablity,ratherthanmere
appreciationtowardstheJewishelement,whichalreadywasprevalentamongstus,wasgiveneven
moreencouragement.
AndfinallyaddtoallthistheincalculableinfluencewhichasingleconvertlikeDaCostawithhis
SemiticglowhadontheattitudeofourvolktowardstheJewsjustthinkhowdifferentlywestarted
viewingtheJewssinceweofferedahearingearandlovinghearttosuchanIsraeliteyes,whenwe
calculatehowtheorthodoxconfessionofthisbaptizedIsraelitegavewholegroupsofChristiansthe
couragetorethinktheirownconfessionthenwearelessamazedathowtheJewishelementwasable
toorganizeitselfsopowerfullyagainstus,withoutChristianEuropesuspectinganythingotherfrom
theJewthanwhatislovelyandwellsounding.
CHAPTERII
Nowhereinhistoryisthereanotherexamplewheresuchapowerfulinfluencewasexertedbysucha
smallgroup,thanthecontemporaryJews,whichincreasinglyastonisheseveryonewhostudythis
phenomenon.Ofthe67millionJews(somesay1012)livingintheworldaccordingtothebest
sources,onlythreeandahalfmillionliveinEuropeandeventheyarewidelydispersedamongthe
morethanhundredtimesbiggerpopulationconsequentlyabout1%.Andthis1%isdistributedsuch
thatbyfarthemostofthemliveincountrieswhichdonothavemuchinfluenceonthebiggerpicture,
namelyPolandandAustria.
OfthethreeandahalfmillionJews,agoodtwoandahalfmillionliveinRussia(Poland)and
Austria.ConsequentlytherealbruntofthesocialandpoliticaldominationofEurope,moreprecisely
andcloselyviewed,isnotbroughtaboutbythreeandahalfmillion,butbyonlyonemillionsonsof
thisSemiticnation.MostoftheseliveinPrussia(250000)Germany(200000)andFrance(110000),
whileamongthesmallercountriesourowncountry(Netherlands)hasthebiggestcontingent.
Conversely,inEnglandandItaly,andalsoinSwitzerlandandBelgium,theirpercentageisso
completelyinsignificantthattheycomposeoneperthousandorevenperthreethousandofthe
populationatthemost.Andyet,thisinsignificantgrouptothepointofalmostbeingextinctsetsthe
toneinEuropeismasterofthepoliticalterraingovernsthedevelopmentofgeneralperceptionsand
hasthefateofEuropeintheirhand.Westillrememberthestorythatwastoldamongstusforashort
while:Thereoncewasastrangerwhosoughtlegalhelp.Heaskedforalawyer,sothehotelowner
gavehimtheaddressofaJew.Thelawyersenthimtoanattorney,whichalsowasaJew.The
attorneyhelpedhimtocontactthecourtofficeranotherJew.Inthecorridorhewalkedpastthe
judge,whichhesawbytheirclothesthathewassurroundedbyhisJewishfamily.Whenhecameto
themagistrate,hehadthehonourofspeakingtoanotherJew.Andeventually,inTheHague,he
appealedtotheministerofJustice.[2]Whenhegotthere,hewasreceivedbytheJewishsecretary

whoarrangedameetingwiththeJewishministerofJustice:oneGodefroy!Wasitanywonderthat
theastonishedstranger,afterthisjudicialadventure,askedhisbestDutchacquaintances:Hasthe
wholeJusticedepartmentgoneintothehandsofJews?
Althoughthismostprobablyisanexaggerationanddramatizationofthefacts,itisbasicallynone
otherthanagoodcomparisonofanalarmingreality,whichevenmorethaninpublicoffice,istrue
aboutthemediaandthestockexchange.TheprintingpressinthewholeofEurope,inasfartheyas
servantsoftheRevolutionbeitintheliberalistorconservativedirectionbecametheprivate
yachtoftheJews.InVienna,asinBerlinaswellasinFrankfurtandinHamburgandCologneand
Parisalike,themostinfluentialnewspapersareintheirhands.Andasfarasourowncountryis
concerned,youmerelyhavetotracethehistoryofourbiggestnewspapers,theDagbladincluded,and
youwilldiscoverthatalsoathomeJewishenergyissolelyinthedrivingseat.Andnotonlyisthe
editorshipofthesepapers,hereandintheothercountriesunderdirectJewishleadership,butalsothe
corpsreporters,thecorrespondencebureau,politicalcorrespondents,etc.are,asfarasitconcernsthis
influentialpress,almostexclusivelyinJewishhands.InalmostalltheparliamentsofEuropetheyare
theoneswhorecordthespeechestakethephotographsandbytheiranalysisquicklysummarizethe
impressionswhichwillprevailinthelandaccordingtotheirwishes.Furthermore,becausetheJews
areinthedrivingseatofthismightyvehicle,theyalsocontrolthepublicationofbooksandtherefore
thecommunicatingoffactsetc.totheextentthattherearealmostnocompetition.Ifyouconsiderthis,
youwillbeabletoformapictureofthemessage:ThehugepressofEuropeisamonopolyintheir
hands!
Bythistheyhaveitintheirpowertoplaceeveryeventandoccurrenceinthelight(perspective)they
desiretoconcealwhatdoesntsuitthemandtowriteupwhattheylike.Inshort,toplaywithlight
anddarknessuntiltheensembleleavestheimpressionthatsatisfiesthem.Thus,inthesecondhalfof
August(1878)onecouldreadinalltheforeignnewspapersaboutthemasterfulreportofourlocal
ministerKappeynewhomadeanundisputedendtotheMuckersandRijckschrittlers[3],whileon
theotherhand,notawordisspokenabouttheresultofourpetition.Now,everyonehere,evenin
liberalistcirclesknowsthatapetitionseldomsucceedsassurprisinglyasourSmeekschrift(petition)
didandconverselythatseldomistheresomuchoppositionagainstagovernmentreportaswas
againstKappaynes.ButofcoursethelocalJewishcorrespondentsknow,thatbytheirobliging
paintingandofficiatingwritingtheycancreateadepictiononthecanvasforthewholeofEurope,not
ofthereality,butofthefantasyoftheimaginativereporters.Andthisconcernsonlyapassingeventin
asmallarea.Butthesamesystemoffalsificationoffactsandofthepublicopinionwasalsofor
examplesystematicallyconveyedinthepressanalysisoftherecenteventsinRussia.
Suchisthedaytodayworkingofthiswelldisciplinedcloseknitphalanx[4]onthepublicopinionby
theirreportsontheparliamentsandagainonthecabinets,andeventuallyonthefateofallofEurope.
ThisthereforehastheresultthattheJews,bythisvehicleofthemightypress,preparetheonly
intellectualbreadwhichthousandsuponthousandsconsumeandespeciallyinallcircleswherethe
newspaperistheonlyreadingmatter.Theyhavetheformingofcommonlyacceptedconceptsintheir
powerandthereforetheyarealsoabletocultivatethepeoplesspiritualmindandheartaccordingto
theirliking.Now,combinethisimmeasurableinfluenceoftheJewishpresswiththemagnificent
fiscalpowerwithwhichtheJewishbankersplayaleadingroleatthestockexchanges.Thename
Rothschildhasonlytobementioned,toenlightenthepictureofthissecondmightyfactforanyone
whostudiesthisphenomenon.Becauseindeed,inLondonandParisinFrankfurtandViennaaswell
asinBerlin,themillionsandbillionsoftheEuropeanassetsarechainedupintheJewishbanksin
suchaperplexingway,thatthesefewJewishfirms,withtheirbroadfollowingofsmallerbanksand
officesareabletomanipulatetheeconomicbasetotheireverywhim.Infactitiscertainthatnobig
loanwillbegiveninEuropeiftheJewishbankersopposeitandalsotheyhavethepowertoletthe
exchangerateofanycurrencyriseorfallaccordingtotheircommand.
Now,everyoneknowsthatacountryhastoborrowmoneytomakewar.Thereforeitisnotdifficultto
seehowdeeplyenslavedthecabinetsofEuropearetotheJewishbankerstoavoidbeingdestroyedin

themomentofimpendingdanger.Compoundingtothis,noonecandenythattheliberalisthandling
ofthestatefinancesandtheapproachingCaesarismhassentallofEuropesbudgetsintoturmoil.
WiththisinmindyoucanimaginethepressurethattheJewishbankersexertonthemonarchsandthe
cabinetswiththeeyeonahugedeficitoraloomingbankruptcy.Ifthesetwofactorswerenotenough
tomaketheJewsalmostallpowerful,itisfurtherentrenchedinaconcretewaybythetalentsoftheir
coryphes[5]aswellasasubstantialpartofChristianitysrelapseintoheathendom.Aboutbothof
theselasttwofactorswewillelaborateinafollowingarticle.Iwillonlymentionaboutthefirst,that
theJewishfamiliesincomparisonproduceaverysubstantialpercentageofexceptionallycapable,
talentedmenineveryfacetofscienceandarts[6].AslawyerstheJewsarewellsoughtafter
increasinglymoreJewsbecomesurgeonsatouruniversitiestheytakeupmoreandmorelectureships
andthenamesofDIsraeli,ofGambetta,ofLaskerandsomanyothershasonlytobementionedto
visualisethefarreachinginfluencetheyreachedonthepoliticalterrain.
ChapterIII
WedonothesitateforamomenttocreditasignificantshareoftheunequalinfluenceoftheJewsto
theirpeculiarityandtalents.AJewisdifferentfromaCaucasian.Thatisimmediatelyevidentfrom
theirbuild(frame)fromtheirgaitfromtheformingoftheirvocalorgansfromtheirprofileand
fromtheircomplexion.Andbecausewecannotdenythestrongcohesionbetweenbodyandsoul,it
followsthattheJewsframeofmind,thinkingandworldviewresultsindifferentperceptionsandthat
theygoabouttheirworkdifferentlythanus.Thecrucialdifferenceinpersonalityconsequently
explainstheveryprominentdissimilaritybetweenJewandChristianwhicheverybodynoticesatfirst
glance.Noticeintheirbearingandclothingintheirglanceandtoneintheirhousingandfoodin
theirsympathiesandantipathiesintheirchoiceofoccupationandofrecreation.Eveninlife
expectancytheJewsdifferfromtherestoftheEuropeans.Theymakeupadisproportionatelarge
percentageofourgreyhairedmenandwomen.
AndthecontrastbetweenJewandnonJewisnotapassingphenomenon,becauseaftereighteen
centuriesamongallothervolke,itisstillevident,almostundilutedinitsoriginalseverity.
EverywheretheJew,bothinbodyandsoul,thatis,inhiswholepersonalityandappearance,truly
remainedJew.InallcountriestheJewassembleswithhistribesmenasaparticularcaste.Evenwhere
theyabandonedtheirparticularcustoms,theJewsremainedavolkinamuchstrictersensethanany
oftheEuropeanvolkeeverwas.AtthereadofRevelation,itdoesntseemstrange.Indeedweknow
thattheoriginofIsraelliesinawondrouscreationdeedofGod[7]thatGodsetapartthisvolkfrom
theothervolkeinaveryspecialwaytobeHisownandthatIsraelscallingdidnotendwiththe
destructionofJerusalematall.[8]Indeed,fromallthatwereadaboutIsraelintheHolyScriptures,we
canprophesywhatweobservetoday.Thatis:a)thattheywillnotbewipedoutb)thattheywill
remainavolkwithexceptionalspiritualgiftsandc)that,aslongastheyrejectChrist,theywill
remainalliestotheenemiesoftheChristendom.
ThedenialoftheJewssuperiorexcellencethereforeisnotourchargeatall,andwewillnotspeak
onewordinourarticlethatevenapproachtheunchristianlikeandthoroughJewishlikecontempt
withwhichsomeGermancirclesscorntheJews.No,onthecontrary,Israelscontinuedexistence
IsraelsnumericalexpansionIsraelsdispersionamongandinfluenceoverthevolke,inspiteofthe
waytheyholdontotheirownvolkstype,iswelcomeandconcreteevidenceevenmoreso,ofthe
truthofthismysteriousworld,inwhichScriptureplacesusandinwhichIsraeloncewasthevolkto
thegloryofGod.
WeaccordinglyacknowledgewholeheartedlythattheJewsproportionallyhaveahigherintellectual
capacitythantheGermanicorLatinvolke.Notinthesensethatourbestandgreatestmencame
fromtheirmidstratherthecontraryistrue.TheJewshaveproducedalmostnoman,whoremained
Jewish,offoremostgreatness.AndevenSpinoza,whomtheyliketomentionasanexampleofafirst
ratephilosopher,couldonlyacquirethefamewithwhichouryoungergenerationaretaughttohonor
him,throughskeweddepictionandartificialidolization.No,currentlytheJewshavefewgeniusof
realmerit,andthereforeitisthepositivesciencesandnotthespeculativescienceswhichdrawthem

wherenotgenius,butquickunderstandingandclarityofmindaretheprizefeatures.WhattheJews
dopossessingreatermeasurethantheChristian,isthetalentsoftheseconddegree.Moreoftheir
sonsdostudy,andtheymostlymakeasuccessfulcareer.Especiallyatthebareveryoneacknowledges
theirdominance,whereingeniousnessandcunningnessarerequired.Inthemedicalfieldtheyoccupy
highandhonorablepositionsinmanyofourforemostcities.Eveninthelessscientificfields,where
theJewcompeteswithoneofus,theprizealltoooftengoestohimbecauseofhisquicker
understanding,tougherdeterminationandclearerinsight.Inshort,wherevertheJewstartstocompete
withtheChristian,weusuallyhavetoconcedethatwehavemetanopponenttootough.Andyetboth
thefinertuningoftheirspiritandtheirpeculiarwayoflifeareinsufficienttoexplainthe
immeasurableinfluencethattheyhaveacquired.Evenifweaddthereactionupontheirpast
suppression,itwouldstillnotbesufficienttoexplainthis.Andtheysurelydodrawvigourfromtheir
pastsuffering.Nevercanyousuppressapartofthepopulationortheywillbecomestrongerforit,
becausethesufferingexercisestheirmoralvigour.Andastimepasses,thestrongermoralvigour
beginstobearthefruitofstrongerenergy,tightercohesionandnoblercourage.Wecurrently(1878)
witnessthisamongtheRomanCatholicsinGermany,aswellastoacertainextentlocallyandthere
isnoreasonwhythisfirmlawwouldnotbevalidasfarasIsraelisconcerned.Butevenwhenwe
bringthisfactorofIsraelspastsufferingintoconsideration,togetherwiththeirnumbers,theirtalents
andtheirresilience,theJewswouldstillhavebeenunabletoachievethegoaltoconquerEurope
withoutoutsideassistance.Theindisputablevictorymustmainly,ifnotexclusively,beattributedto
thedegenerationofChristianityitselfwho,inherreturntoheathendomnecessarilyhadtopass
throughtheJewishphaseandwhentheyarrivedthere,naturallyhadtosuccumbbeforetheir
superiors.
AtthelifestationwheretheChristisrejected,butsomevaguegodlinessisstilltemporarilyevident,
theJewisathomethatishisfortetheJewsetsthetoneandthereforeitwasinevitablethatthe
degenerateChristianity,intheperiodwhichtheycallthemoderntheology,hadtoallowtheJewish
spiritualsuperioritytoreignoverthem,althoughunintentionally.Whenthemodernpastors
themselvesbecameJewsaccordingtothespirit,itwasselfevidentthattheirspirithadtobendbefore
thespiritofourpresentdayJews.AReformJew[9]andaModernPastorisoneandthesamethingif
closelyscrutinisedsimplytwovarietiesofthesamespiritualtype.
ChapterIV
Whenyouwoulddaretorevealthesecretsoftheirbirth,theLiberalistJewishpressattacksyouwith
intenseanger.Thefollowingtaleofangrypolemicfromthepenoftheeditorsofourcapitals

WeareontheeveofthetakingupofavolkspetitionagainsttheJews.Indeed,thelatestStandaard
publishedthefirstpartofanessaywiththetitle:LiberalistsandJews,showingtheunbelievable
influencewhichtheJewsexertonthefateofEuropethesedays.Andthepapercontinuestosaythe
mostpainfulistherealitythatourvolkdoesnotevenconsiderresistingthisinfluencetoreturntoan
acceptablebalance.ThemistakewasthattheemancipationoftheJewsdidnothappenalongthe
principlesofthegospel,butbecauseofconsiderationsdirectlyopposedtothegospel.Ofcoursethe
paperreferstotheFrenchRevolution.Theyfurthermorecontendthat,byprofoundreactiontothepast

propagateJewishemigrationtoPalestine.TheseChristianmistersareindeedadmirablecitizens.
Theyseeminglydoeverythingintheirpowertocultivateandpromoteunanimityandpeaceinour
belovedfatherlandaccordingtotheirreligiousdoctrine.
Nowwemuststressthatwehaveuntilnow,notutteredawordtoinjurethehonoroftheJews.Onthe
contrary,weblamedtheChristiansandwepraisedtheJews.Andstill,thispolemic!Apolemicwhich
doesntrespecthonestywhich,becauseofitsmaliciousnesslacksthetolerancetoletsomeoneelse

andwhattheHandelsbladwishestoconceal.Wequote:

however,thatwedomissionworktooanddohavebetterandricherresultsthanthem.Weconquer

ThetimeiscomingthatthegreatmajorityofChristianswillreturntoourGodconcept,our
Monotheism.Thefutureisours.Theyconvertinmassesandunnoticed.
WouldtheeditorialstaffoftheHandelsbladhavethecouragetopublishthesewords?[12]Thatis
doubtful.Buteveniftheypassthisover,soontheywillnotbeabletoavoidtakingnoticeofour
opinionabouttheJewsinourcountry.Orrather,eveniftheyarefoundrefusingtodothis,theywill
onlybeabletostandwithhonorbeforetheirreadersiftheymisleadthem.Inanticipationwewillonly
saythis:TheLiberalistJewishpresstouchedonthesubjectofaVolkspetition.Withthisthey
revealedthattheyplantoapplythesametacticswithwhichtheydestroyedtheAprilmovement.This

AmongtheJewishvolk,likeinanyothervolkthatisboundtogetherbybloodrelationship,there
aretwotypes:theseriouskindandthefriskykind.Theseriouskindsometimesdegeneratetosurliness
andbywanderingfromthegoodtrack,mayevenacquireanunholycharacter.Conversely,thefrisky

AmongtheJewsofoldtheseopposingschoolsofthoughtwerecalledthePhariseesandSadducees.
BothweretrueJewishsectswhichwererootedpartlyinthenatural,andpartlyinthegodlyvolks
makeupofIsraelbutinthistheystoodfirmlyopposedtoeachother,becausethePhariseeheldthat
theysoughtnothingfromthislife,andeverythingfromthehereafter,whiletheSadduceepretended
thateverythingwasaboutthislifeandexpectednothingfromtheafterlife.Asweallknow,the
Sadduceesdeniedtheresurrectionofthedead,andthustherealityoffuturelifeandconverselywe
couldarguebythesametokenthatthepresentlifehadnomeaninginthedogmaticsofthePharisee.
ThisconfirmsthattheSadduceewasaPelagianandthePhariseeslightedGodspoweroverman.
Indeed,theseriousmaneventhefalsifiedearnestdesiresboundariesthefriskyspiritwantstobe
freefromallbounds.Itfollowsthat,whetheryouconfessordenyfreewilldependsdirectlyonyour
seriousnesswithwhichyouviewlifeortheabsencethereof.Itishardlynecessarytoremindeventhe
uninformedthatthePhariseesstoodfirmonthetraditionoftheancestorsathomeaswellasinthe
temple,whiletheSadduceeswereagainstthesecustomsandrituals,andsometimescausedamenace

inthetemplebecausetheydidnotrespectthetradition.Ifyoukeepthisinmind,youwillrecognize
exactlythesamealliancesintheorthodoxJewsandtheReformedJews.
TheorthodoxJewisdeeplyserious,eveninourtime,eventhoughtheseriousnessdoesnotfollowa
truecourse.Hesufferswithpatienceandawaitswithimpenetrablecalmthebigcatastrophewhich
willprovehimrightandtheworldwrong.Andforthatallencompassingvisionhesacrifices
everything.Evenhisownfinancialbenefit.Hesternlyclingstotheteachings,decreesandtraditions
ofhisfathers.Hissightisnotsetonhisownwishes,butratheronGodspurposeinhisownandin
otherslife.Andhoweveramiableyouaretowardshim,hestaysanoutsider,dispersedamongstthe
volke,butwithouteverbecomingachildofthosevolke.
CompletelydifferentisitwiththeReformedJews.Withthemthereisnonotionofanyactive,visible
fearofGod.TheyaremerelyDeists,i.e.theystillagreethatGodexists,butfortheresttheydonot
takeHimintoaccount.Hencetheirstrongandexaggeratedpelagianism.Theyaretheoneswhodo
everythingthemselves,andtheydoitbecauseitistheirownfreewill,andtheyrefusetoarguefrom
anyotherviewpointthanaccordingtotheirownfreewill.Theyhavenoconsiderationforafuturelife
either.Theyprefertogoupinthisworld,theystrivetoprogressinthisworld,toacquirehonorinthis
world,toenjoyfromthisworld.Theydonottroublethemselveswiththetraditionsoftheforefathers,
andsometimesthereisevenafalseambitiontoconcealthattheyareJewish.Theystillbuild
synagogues,butrathertolistentothebeautifulmusicandfinesermons,thantobeinitiatedintothe
mysteriesoftheirfathers.Inshort,theysimplycontinuetheoldvaluesoftheSadduceesinamore
stringentform.AndjustliketheSadduceeswereabletoadjusttolifeundertheforeignruleofthe
Romans,theynowpositionthemselveswithrarepleasureinlifeamongtheGojim.Onlyintwo
aspectstheorthodoxJewsandtheReformedJewsareinseparable:intheirrecognitionofbelongingto
thesamevolkandintheirstridentorsilentanimositytowardsJesustheMessiah.Thefirsttheydo
openly:OrthodoxJewsandReformedJewsstillhaveastrongrelationship.EventheReformedJews
wanttobeburiedinthecemeterywiththeHebrewinscriptionwhateverthecost,theycloseonthe
Sabbathhoweverfartheydegenerate,theystaymembersofthesynagogueortheyerecttheirown
synagoguewheneveraJewishonoured,theyloveit.WhenanotherJewsuffersgrief,theyfeel
sorrowandwhereitconcernscharitytothepoor,theysternlydiscriminatebetweenCaucasianand
Semiticblood.Weknowthat,especiallyinAmerica,inEnglandandtoacertainextentinFrance
therearemanyexamplesofJewswhobrokewiththesynagogueandpassasChristians.Butthese
exceptionsservetoproveourpoint,ratherthantorefuteit,becausethemassoftheorthodoxand
ReformedJewsremainonevolk.
Itfollowsthatitisfutiletotrytoreplacethisvolksunitywiththeunityoftheworldwidechurch.
ThedifferencebetweenJewsandnonJewsisoftotaldissimilarnaturethanthedifferencebetween
LutheranandRemonstrant.Onlytheshallowness,whichouragetakespleasurein,candeceiveitself
totheextentthattheyallowthedenotationthevolk(thisistheJewstitleofhonor,becausetheyare
thevolkparexcellence)tofallintodesuetudeandtoplacethemnexttoLutheransand
Remonstrantsasjustanotherdenomination.
Secondly,theirshrillorsilentanimosityagainstJesusasMessiahneedsevenlessargumentation.The
factsspeakforthemselves.TheyhavenothingagainstJesusofNazareth.Thatisevident.Ifwecould
askforaplaceforJesusamongsttheRabbis,whatwouldpreventthemfromacceptingthisgreat
nameforthegloryoftheirvolk?Andtoacknowledgetheexcellentinstructionsonmoralitywhich
thisRabbibroughttolightfromtherabbinictreasures?TheorthodoxJewmightstillobjecttothis
becausethisRabbialsodenouncedthetraditionalteachings,butnottheReformedJewswhowould
chooseJesussideinthisandwouldevenleaveoutfromwhatJesushastaught,anythingwhichthey
dislike.DonotbesurprisedifyouheartheassurancefromJewishpenorJewishlipsthattheRabbiof
Nazarethwhichthemoderntheologyportrays,isfarfromdespisedandthattheyrathertakepridein
HimandloveHim.Ifyou,obaptizedintheNameoftheLord,arepreparedtodiscardtheChristfrom
yourJesus,thenyouwillbeassuredoftheacclamationbytheReformedJews.Butifyoudonotand

thatorthodoxandReformedwillbeforgotten,andoncemorePhariseeandSadduceewillbe
unitedintheiraversionofyourfaith.Andthatthisistrue,weseeinthetormentingofthefatherand
motherssoulwhenoneoftheirchildrenisbaptizedconsiderthesternanduncompromisingattitude
towardsmixedmarriagesandtheaskancelooksattheconvertedJewifhewoulddaretoenterthe
Jewishquarters.Yes,asktheEnglishandScottishmissionarieswhodaredtoreapunderthis
interestingvolkwiththegospel.
ItremindsusoftheJewishchildwhoenteredaChristianchurchinAmsterdamandstormedupthe
stairsofthepulpitwithanuncoveredknifetokilltheoutstandingDrSchwartz.Ofcoursewedont
blametheJewishvolkassuchforthisattackonDrSchwartz,justaswedontblamethesocialists
forHdelscrime.ButevenourmostzealousJewishfriendwillhavetoadmit:ifthesonsofIsraels
homeshadonlypeacefulthoughts,thisdreadfulincidentwouldnothavehappened!Itisfarfromus,
however,toblametheJewsforthis,andwewholeheartedlyadmitthatitisimpossibleforthemto
takeanyotherstance,exceptiftheyshouldconvert.ThecomingoftheChristinthisworldmarked
theirpolitical,socialandhierarchicaldownfallasasovereignvolk.TheconfessionoftheChristisin
factthecompletedenialofalltheirpretentions.AndthefollowersofChristhaveovertheyears,by
forsakingtheirownprinciplesandbypressureandfulfilment,intensifiedratherthanappeasedthis
contrast.
Thereforeitwasinescapablethatwecametotheconclusionthatwedid,namely:
a)thattheJewstakeexuberantjoyinChristianitysgreatapostasyfromtheChristinallthecountries
inEuropeinvariousformsandnamesand
b)thattheyjoinedforceswiththeseapostateChristiansandthattheywouldexertthemostextreme
efforttokeeppowerlessthoseChristianswhohavenotyetdesertedtheChristandsternlypush
throughthetotaldesecrationanddeChristianisationofthepublicdomain.
ChapterVI
TheapostateChristiansslidedownasteepslope,sothattheydrifteverfurtheraway,withlogical
necessity,fromwhatwastheirfathersgloryandhope.Theyareapostates,withallthefrivolousness
andselfindulgencewhichcharacterizetheapostate.Or,ifyouwill,renegades,withallthebitterness
towardstheirformerbrothersyouwouldseeinanyhistorybookaboutrenegades.Butthis
degenerationdoesnothappenallatonce.Theygothroughstages.Atfirsttheykeepthecomplete
formoftheirancestralfaith,onlydenyingthecoreofthesacredmysteries.Thentheyproceedby
breakingdowntheauthorityoftheScriptures.Hencethedecayofnegationcreepsuptothesacred
PersonoftheRedeemer.Andthus,unawares,theyendupwithareligion,which,freefromall
authority,everyoneactsastohethinksfit.ThentheStationoftheJewsisarrivedat.Bythiswemean
thattheyhaveslippedanddegeneratedthefulldistancetowheretheJewrywas,initsbastardized
form,whenGodcreatedChristianityfromit.TheythenstillconfessalivingGodinspiritualsense,
butwithoutknowingHimbythelightHerevealedandtheywanderoninthedeceptionoftheirown
piety,whichtheycreatedintheirhearts.ThisistheperspectiveofthenegationoftheChristendom
sinceabout1848.Notsomuchinthechurch,norinthetheologicalclassroom,butinleadingcircles
onsocial,literaryandpoliticalterrain.
WhenourConstitutionwaswritten,itwasnotyetaperiodofcompletegodlessness,neitherofhuman
idolization,butofareligion,interpretedaccordingtoeveryonesownopinion.Thisisthereasonfor
theConstitutionsvaguenessinreferencetoGod.HencethetheoryofChristendomratherthan
religiousdivision.Hencealsotheeventualfatalmarriagebetweenthemoderntheologyandpolitical
liberalism.Themodernisminourchurcheswasthefruitofthismarriage,andthelaterfleeingof
manyamodernpastortotheeditorialroomsoftheLiberalistJewishnewspapersismerelythe
embodimentofthesupersedingassumptionthatthedegenerateChristianitytakesrefugeinthetentsof
Israelforawhile.Butitdoesntendhere.BeneaththeChristendomisJudaism.Thisisthefirstplace

wherethedegenerateChristianarrives.ButbeneathJudaismistheHeathendom.Beneaththeheathen
idolatryistheheathenwitchcraft.Andultimatelybeneathallthesethelewdserviceofthe
sensuousness[15]andbestiality.Wealreadyseethattheespritsforts,theleadingminds,haveleft
behindtheJewishphaseanddonotwanttohearanythingofmoderntheologyandhavealready
erectedtheirtentsonPaganterrain.
Thewholespectrumofhowtheintellectisidolizedandthenagaintheimaginationandsometimes
natureandthenonanothertriptheartsandstillanothermanitselfhowtheyingeniouslychoosethe
objectoftheirworship,cannotbediscussedinthisshortscope.
ThisprocessisalsoaccordingtofixedlawsandMisterDelaSausaveJr.[16]wouldhavedonewell,
andwouldhavebeenmorescientificandmoreinteresting,ifhedidnottrytoprovethatthesourceof
heathenidolatryispartlytobefoundinChristianitybutratherthereverse:thatthegreatdegeneration
oftheChristendommustendupthere,oncetheypassthroughtheJewishphase.Thatthereturnto
PaganismcorrelateswiththeoldHeathenpracticesofwitchcraftandcallingofthedead[17],is
alreadyevidentinthetable,danceandknockspirits[18]aswellasinthesignificantphenomenon
ofSpiritualism.Andthespiritfromtheunderworldhasevenpulledthemdowntofullfledged
bestiality,notonlyinscandalouscircles,butalas!alsointhebooksofesteemedauthors.Toour
indescribabledisgrace,alreadywitnessedinourland,booksofprofessedlyscientificmencirculate,in
whichthehorrorsoftheAstartanserviceandthegodlessnessoftheoldCanaanitevolkearepraised
asnaturallyethicalandservicetonature.
WearethereforeawarethatthecurrenttriumphoftheJewsismerelytemporary.Onceestrangedfrom
Christ,nationswhohavetastedHisblessingswillnecessarilysinkinfinitelydeeperthanIsrael,who,
intheirpresentformhasnotknowntheblessingsofChrist.Itmightevenhappenthatthemoreserious
JewswilleventuallydefendtheirspiritualmonotheismagainsttheChristianapostatesidolatryof
natureandman.Forsometimenow,weareconvincedthattheJewishphaseofthedegenerationwill
notlast.Itisalreadypassing,andwiththesignsofdecrepitudethatLiberalismincreasinglyshows,
thisallpowerfulJewishinfluenceisonitswaytoitsend.Butforthemomentandwehopethat
peoplewillbecomedeeplyconsciousofthistheinfluenceisstilldominatingandisconnectedwith
Liberalismspartytyranny.NotthatallJewstoamanconspireinthisway.Onthecontrary,thereare
alsoproudandindependentspiritsamongthemwhorefusetobeblindfoldedbytheLiberalistsand
whoalreadyclearlyseethattheLiberalistsarealsoleavingthembehindintheirrushintothearmsof
theHeathendom.Thesearetheexceptions,however.Ifwedonotfocusontheexceptions,butonthe
rule,itwillbeobvioustoall,thattheLiberalismiscoveredfromheadtotoeintheJewishspirit,and
thatourdegenerateChristians,inanevilsense,aresortofProselytesinwaitingintheportalsof
IsraelsSynagogues.
CHAPTERVII
Wehavecometotheendofourseriesofarticlesandwewrapupwiththefollowingfourconclusions:
1.ThedangerofthemomentdoesnotlieintheJewspamperingtheLiberalists,butmuchratherin
thattheLiberalistsarethoroughlyJewidized.
Fromtheoutset(inhindsightnobodywilldenyit,althoughthewisdomofthepassionateeditorsof

accordingtothefamiliarstatementoftheHeadRabbithattheJewshaveconvertedtheChristiansin

spiritualcharacteroftheeducationlaw,highlightsthisverysignificantfact.
YoucouldargueagainstourpointthatGladstoneandhisfollowersopenlyopposedtheJewsin
England.Butundercloserscrutiny,thisactuallyprovesourpointevenmore.Indeed,thethoroughly
unfoundedhabitwhichearlierabounded,topretendthattheEnglishLiberalsareoflikemindtoour
Liberalistsisnowrejectedbyall.TheattitudeoftheEnglishLiberalsintheirdiscussionofthe
educationlawalreadyrefutesthisuntenableviewandwhenGladstonehadthecouragetoagitate
againsttheTurks,whomtheEuropeanJewishpressnurture,thegapbetweenourLiberalistsand
EnglandsLiberalsstartedtobecomevisibleforeverybody,tosuchanextentthatevenNieuwsvande
Dagwroteasmallarticleaboutittowarnagainstputtingthemonapar.
Ourreaderswillindeedalsobeinformedenoughtoknowbeyondanydoubt,thatitisinfacttheanti
revolutionaryelementtheChristianvolkofGreatBritainandespeciallythethoroughlyPuritan
Scotland,whichcomprisethecoreofGladstonesparty.Ifthisistakenintoaccount,thefactthat
Gladstone,FroudeandespeciallyGoldwinSmithshoutnoJewrywithsomuchforceandemphasis
isproofthattheyarenotinoppositionwithus,andevidencethatmenofmoreimpressivestatureare
alsodisturbedbytheJewishquestion.
2.TheJewsformaphalanxwithwellclosedranksdespitetheirattemptstowardreformationandthe
differentreligiousviewsamongthem.Theaimsofthiscoteriehaveadistinct,fanaticallyhostile
charactertowardsChrist,especiallybytheirspiritualinfluenceontheLiberalism.
TheJewsaredivided.AmongthemyoufindanorthodoxgroupwhichstilladheretotheThora,
TalmudandMenahga.ThenyoufindagroupofReformedJewswhoonlyhonourthespiritualcoreof
thetradition.Lastly,thereisagroupofLibertarianswhodoesnotacquiescetoanything.
Notwithstandingthedifferences,theystillhavethesenseofbelongingtothesamenationalexistence.
Thisisevidentnotonlyfromwhatweseeeverydayintheirmarriagesandcarefortheirpoor,but
alsoamongstotherthingsnottheleastfromtheirsecretorderslikeBnaiBrith,whichendeavourto
bindtogethereverybodyofJewishoriginwithfirmdisciplineinaneffectiveorganization,muchlike
theFreeMasonlodgesunderstrictsecrecyinordertohelpandprotectthem.Suchanelitebodyinthe
Liberalistcampnecessarilyinfluencesthecharacterofwhattheystrivefor.Buttheinfluencewillnot
last.Quitethecontrary:theLiberalismisopposedtoGodandtheJewdomisnotopposedtoGodas
such,theyareonlyopposedtoChrist.ThedeepestconvictionoftheLiberalistishostiletoallfaith,
whiletheJewishmurmuringonlywantstodestroythefaithabouttheCross.Thatisthereasonwhy
theJewishLiberalistpress,overhereandelsewhere,incohortswiththemodernpastors,areso
resolutelyopposedagainsttheboldconfessorsofChristinparticular.

Theism,buttoopposetheconfessionofChristastheAnointedofGod,thefanaticalJewishheartin
peoplelikeMoens,GodefroyandMeijiercometotheforeandtheirespecialzealagainsttheAnti
Revolutionaries[21]knowsnobounds.OncetheChristendomisdestroyed,theJewswilldefendthe

ButthattheywillcomeclosertoachievingthisgoalwiththehelpoftheJews,Icannotaccept.Ifwe
acceptthatthefoundationofthestateisitsreligion,thenourfoundationcanonlybeChristian.
MayIsaywithoutexaggerationthatwiththisstatement,thewholematterbecamerelevantfor
discussion.Somuchmorewiththefollowingtwoevents:
Firstly,theassertionbyourLiberalists(whichtheirmastersalsoputintopractice)thatneitherultra
montanen[22],norantirevolutionariescanbenominatedforcertaingovernmentalpositions.And
secondly,thestruggleoftheAustraliansandtheCaliforniansagainsttheChinese.Thisstruggle(over
whichwecannotelaboratehereandaboutwhichmoreinformationcanbefoundintheRevuedes
deuxMondesof1September1878)amplifiesthefactthatthequestionwhetheronevolkcan
sanctionthatanothervolkwithwhichtheydonotidentifycanbeplacedonequalfootingintheir
midst,isaquestionwhichisclearlyoneofnumbers:Assoonasitisfearedthattheothervolkmay
becomeamajority,itisnolongerastruggleaboutrights,butastruggleforsurvival.Ontopofthisthe
Handelsbladhas,withnoconsiderationfortheireditorialstaffandbeforetheyevenknewwhatour
intentionswere,attackedusasifwewantedtocurbthecitizenrightsoftheJews.Wetherefore
explicitlystatethateveryattempttotakeawaytheexistingrightsofJewswillbemetwithourfirm
oppositioneveniftheydonothavetherightsyet,wewouldbeinfavourofgrantingittothemand
inshort,werejectanycombattingoftheJewwhichaimstocreateanunevenplayingfieldonjudicial
terrain.
Thesenewspapershavecompletelyfalselypresentedourintentionstotheirreaderswetherefore
hastentoaddoursupporttotheliteralwordingofthedeclarationwhichtheyproposed:(a)thatwith
thistheundeniablefactisindeedconfirmedthattheJewsareofthesamecountry,butnotthesame
volkasusandthereforeliveamongusasguestsand(b)thatitwouldbeagravemistaketoview
theinfluenceoftheJewsasinnocentandtoturnablindeyetotheirreactionagainsttheChristendom.
4.ThattheonlyrelationshiptheChristianshouldhavewiththeJews,isoneofcompetingwithIsrael
inmoralsolemnity,oneofcombatingbyspiritualsuperiority,[23]andoneofmissionamongthemof
ourlove,ofourtalentsandourword.
WeknowtheJewishlifetoowellnottoknowhowthemoralsolemnityisdeterioratingalsointheir
familiesandhowdestructionisalsocausedbythesinsofselfindulgence.Butwiththiswecertainly
arenotblindtothefactthatatleasttheorthodoxJewsandtheyarebyfarthemajorityhavethus
farbeenfreeofthesinofdrinking,andbythegentledrawingoftheirfamilyties,theyensureamilieu
fortheiryoungergenerationthatenablethemtoresistmuchevil.Inthisliesamoralelementthat
deservesrecognitionandadmirationfromtheviewpointofvolkswelfareandwhynotsayit?
shouldbeenviedbytheChristians,who,withsomuchmoregloriousspiritualcapital,achieveso
muchlessresults.
