About Us

KEWS was established as a non profit organisation on October 17, 1977 with the aim and
ambition of initiating and spearheading multifarious and fruitful community welfare progrommes
and setting up educational institutions par excellence from pre-primary to post graduation levels.
The society was a brainchild and was founded by Late Shri O.P. Tandon Ji along with Founder
Principal of the school, Smt. Kamal Rani Tandon.

After the registration of the society in 1977 under the Registrar of Societies Act (1860), the
society conceptualized and started with a small unit of a public school in West Delhi area. With
the perseverant, tireless and whole hearted efforts of its members and its founder, Late Shri O. P.
Tandon Ji, the society is now running the following units successfully.

TRIBUTE TO FOUNDER CHAIRPERSON

Shri Tandon was born on March 10, 1941. He was appointed as Lecturer in Meerut University at
a very young age. After that he was appointed as TGT in Delhi Administration and retired as
Principal. After this he set up Kamal Education and Welfare Society (KEWS) and established
Kamal Public School at Uttam Nagar, Delhi. This initialization of his educational journey with
Kamal Public School steadily transformed into Kamal Group of Institutions, that encompassed
within itself Shri Tandons vision & mission to provide education to all. Shri Tandon had opened
several branches of Kamal Educational Institutes comprising school and colleges in new and
untouched areas. Kamal Public Senior Secondary School, Vikas Puri, another endeavour of his,
is today among the reputed schools of Delhi, affiliated to CBSE.

He focused primarily on the education of girls because he was of the opinion that if a girl is
educated, then a family will be educated. Besides this, he also took the responsibility to educate
the children of Muslim families. He did not consider money important. He provided free
education, education with nominal fee to the poor and orphans at Kamal Model School. He also
inspired the poor children to capacitate them to take part in the formation of society & its
development.

In the year 2000, he set up Trinity Institute of Higher Education at D-Block, Vikas Puri affiliated
to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprashtha University. In 2007, he founded Trinity Institute of
Professional Studies at Sector-9, Dwarka in affiliation to GGS IPUniversity. These are now
flagship institutes for higher education in professional courses.

Shri Tandon was also awarded several National and International Awards for his great and
appreciable contribution in the field of education. He was attached with multifarious social
activities. He firmly believed in the aphorism Children are hopes. Feel the dignity of the child.
Shri Tandon was involved with many social & religious organizations and contributed
meaningfully and significantly towards these. He left us for his heavenly abode on June 2, 2009
but his remembrance & inspiration shall always be with us to guide us in times to
come.
