End of Diploma CAS Reflections

These reflections should be made after you have successfully

collected evidence for all of the eight learning outcomes. If you
choose a method other than writing an essay, it should be
comparable in both length and detail, and address the guiding
remarks below.

Guiding remarks for CAS reflections:

Looking back at your self-review and personal goals you
completed at the beginning of your diploma; what do you think
about your thoughts and feelings at that moment in time,
compared to your thoughts and feelings now?
Did you encounter any difficulties while attempting to meet any
of the learning outcomes? Explain what the difficulties were and

how you dealt with them, giving specific scenarios from specific
activities.
Were some learning outcomes easier to achieve then others?
Why?
Which activities did you enjoy the most? Why? Which activities
did you not enjoy? Why?
Which activities do you think have given you skills which you will
use later on in life? What are those skills? In what way do you
think you will use them in the future?
Did you encounter any ethical issues during your CAS
programme? What were they? How did you deal with them?
What issues of global importance were encountered during your
CAS programme?
Why do you think CAS is included as such an important part of the
IB Diploma programme?
What would you do differently if you started your CAS programme
over again?

All the CAS activities managed to have a major impact in my life style. The
most notable change from beginning to end was my own character
development. I started off my full of curiosity, enthusiasm, but most of all
fear. Now that Ive grown to love such activities Ive realized what working
as a team really means. Ive learnt that no matter what, you have to be
prepared for every situation as you never know what can happen.
For my service activities, particularly referring to working with the
elderlies at Ancianato Dulce Senilitud, planning and initiating activities
ended up being easy to achieve, with the correct organization. Managing
my time allowed me to prepare the CSP lessons to make sure our group
was always proactive, and to help me reduce the probability of anything
going wrong.
Showing perseverance and commitment was definitely more of a struggle
at the beginning. Working with certain peers was an undoubtable
challenge, the lack of motivation became a reason of low interaction with
the project resulting in many struggles. However, once the group realized
the importance behind our activity, the motivation levels rose and we
were able to overcome this struggle.

Working as a team was certainly a challenge, trying to manage the team

as a leader was an even bigger challenge, for I did not only have the
weight of my own actions but I also had to set a impeccable example to
my younger peers, to encourage them to be the best participants they
could possibly be.
Referring to my creative activities, I mostly enjoyed discovering the art of
dance. I learned to express in a way that my body could enjoy. I also
learned different techniques to improve my skills, and as time advanced I
was able to appreciate each lesson more than the last. I least enjoyed
repertoire as it involved public recitals which was a challenge for me and
my stage panic. However, I overcame this fright and managed to do my
recitals successfully.
Im planning to use dance skills to apply the life style of a ballerina into my
life, in which your techniques must remain constant, coordinated,
organized and punctual. Such activities work great when you try to apply
them to your everyday basic beliefs. Constancy will give you the power to
create a habit, coordination will give you the ability to balance your
schedule, organization speaks for itself, and finally punctuality will allow
you to be taken more seriously and professionally. These are all traits that
Im hoping to use later in my life, as I've learnt that their value is of major
importance.
Overall the CAS activities have had a major influence in my life, they have
allowed me to discover myself, to learn new things, and encouraged me to
help others. I have learnt and strengthened values like respect, empathy,
solidarity, and respect. Im at comfort with what Ive done over the last two
years and very hopeful that I will continue to practice them.
