ENGINEERING MECHANICS
BE / MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
I/II
2014-2015
E.VIDHYASRI
AIM:
To develop capacity to predict the effect of force and motion in the course of carrying out the design
functions of engineering
Objectives:
To give students practice in applying their knowledge of mathematics, science, and Engineering
and to expand this knowledge into the vast area of rigid body Mechanics.
To enhance students ability to design the static condition of object under different loading
condition.
To make the students to aware about the Gravitational force of static objects.
To give knowledge to the students about the dynamic condition of the object.
To make aware about the friction in dynamic object and the loss of energy due to friction.

Outcomes:
Student will be aware of analysis of rigid bodies.
Student will understand the concept of action and reaction forces in static condition to design static
object.
They will analysis the action of gravitational force in static condition.
They will understand the concept of friction and design the moving components to overcome the
friction.
They will analysis the general plane motion and translation motion of a object.
