PISMP BI (SK) 3

For this third semester, TSL 3105 has introduced me a total new knowledge
as I have never been exposed to lesson plans and microteaching before. Therefore,
after I finished doing all the tasks required, I discovered that I have gained a lot of
new knowledge and I also realised that there are few strengths and weakness.
First and foremost, the most highlighted strength is I finally able to produce
my own teaching kits that suit the lesson plan that I had genuinely planned. For the
lesson plan, it was tough at first as I had zero knowledge about the real format of it
and it was really confusing. However after I consulted my lecturer, Mr George and
asked few friends; they gave me few tips to improve, I finally understood and it really
helped me. Basically, building the kits has taught me about things I will have to
consider when planning a lesson for pupils; according to their age, level and abilities.
The linguistic aspect for every reading text prepared must be appropriately chosen,
the vocabularies must be easily understood (for proficiency purpose) and grammar
must be understandable especially for mixed-abilities classroom. If I simply planned
it, fear the learning objectives cannot be achieved and lesson wont be as meaningful
and purposeful as targeted.
Also, I found it is very good to actually understand the pedagogical principles
so that everything will be well-planned and perfectly-justified according to its own
purpose and objectives. If a teacher produced teaching kits without knowing the
purposes of each of them, it will be hard for that teacher to make sure his/her
teaching process is effective. Every class, will have different abilities, different
proficiency level and different interests, teacher must know how to make it balance
among all students, how the focus of the learning can be achieved throughout the
lesson. Thus, I learned that by carefully relating and linking the purposes of the kits
with the pedagogical principles as I produce the kits is very important. Besides, to
experience micro-teaching, the process of developing the kit also had taught me a lot
about scarifying times and money, creativity, patience, hardworking and willingness.
The song video is genuinely mine and the lyrics are originally my idea ) the
lyrics were totally changed and adapted to suit the topic. However, I found it less
appealing for the students because, I was supposed to actually insert in the voice to
the video instead of making it karaoke version so that when it is presented to the
students it wont bore them rather than to listen to the teacher singing live. So the

next time, if I were to produce a new song video for the lesson I can consider this
element to make the lesson more enjoyable and lively.
In brief, I have gained a lot of new knowledge and also I found my own
strengths and weakness while doing this assignment.
