FULL FILE SYSTEM RESTORE – To the original machine (NOT A DR)

1) Check for the dates of backup whether we have. Eg : (If a full system restore
is needed on 12\26\2009 , we may have to take 12\26\2009 + Differentials of
the following 1 weeks that is till 01\01\2010)

2) Once found the backup images, select the Preview tab that will show what
tapes being used for the backup.

3) E-mail to tape ops asking for the tapes to be at On-site. Do an emergency re-
call. Doc for Emergency Recall

4) Once tapes received onsite, run the inventory and collect the tapes.

5) Get access for the client server , Run the command in cmd prompt before you
go for a Restore

same_hardware 1
6) Go to Backup, archive, Restore in Master server(GUI) and select the correct
source, destination and policy type, start date & end date

Select C, D (etc drivers) & Shadow copy components and then click on
Restore tab at the right hand corner.

This Overwrite existing file option should be selected (must).


7) Once selected the required options go for “Start Restore”

8) Once Restore completes

Go to client server and again run the command

<Install path>\ Veritas\ Netbackup\bin\w2koption –restore –same_hardware 1

9) Once command has been executed, the server needs to be rebooted. – Imp

10) Get confirmation from the user that we have restored everything back
to original and Resolve the TT.

Restore done successfully.
