ELLIOT SPILLERS;
SGA PRESIDENT
Petitioner,
versus
JACKSON BRITTON;
SPEAKER OF THE SENATE, et al.,
Respondent,
_____________________________
Appeal from Judicial Review
_____________________________
1. There has been a recently established precedent that Executive Council and/or
Cabinet experience is not required for the Chief of Staff position. This precedent was
established under the Calderone and Taylor administration through the appointment
and confirmation of Mr. Brennan Johnson. Furthermore, it has been found that Mr.
Allenlundy has served under then-Vice President for External Affairs Drew Bridges
as Director for Community Service within the Executive Cabinet per Chapter 500.2.2
of the SGA Code of Laws.
2. There has been past precedent that former Chiefs of Staff have served on the
campaigns of past SGA Presidents reflected in past administrations, as such it is the
decision of the Panel for Further Judicial Review that Chisolm Allenlundys
involvement in President Spillers campaign is not a determining factor against his
qualifications for Chief of Staff.
3. Furthermore, in regards to the Senates stated reasoning of rejection, specifically,
that experiences within other student organization does not necessarily apply to the
specific position of Chief of Staff and must require SGA specific experience; the
panel for further judicial review acknowledges that SGA experience is a valuable
qualification for Chief of Staff. However, as the Chief of Staff must act as a liaison
between the Executive Council and the respective divisions of the student body
experience outside of SGA is equally important.
In accordance with the aforementioned reasons, Mr. Chisolm Allenlundy will be the Chief of
Staff for the 2015-2016 SGA term. Furthermore, it is ordered that this matter is resolved, and the
paties are enjoined from continuing it in the future.
DONE and ORDERED this 21st day of April, 2015.
