Introduction and official opening of the 5th Barrow River Arts Festival by
Sean Hardie
Improvisations on Bass and Saxophone
Fred Hellier was born in London and studied at the University of London and
Goldsmiths College School of Art. His work has been exhibited in solo and group shows
throughout the UK and Canada. He has been a visiting lecturer at Universit Laval in
Qubec City. His paintings, constructions and drawings are in a number of private and
public collections.
Paul Mosse was born in Co. Kilkenny. From 1966 -1970 he studied at The Chelsea
School of Art, London. He has exhibited nationally and internationally and his work is
represented in many private and public collections. He was elected to Aosdana in 2007.
George Vaughan studied at the Limerick School of Art, Limerick, the National College of
Art, Dublin, Fischerkoesen Film Studios, Germany and the College of Music, Dublin. He
has exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions throughout the country. His work can
be found in collections such as The Arts Council of Ireland, Office of Public Works, Butler
Gallery, Limerick City Gallery and private collections in Ireland and abroad.
The exhibition will run throughout the festival and may be viewed between events.

LIEDER RECITAL
The young Belgian-Israeli violist Nathan Braude is rapidly emerging as one of the most
promising viola players of his generation. He has performed in many of the world's
most prestigious concert venues including the Wigmore Hall in London, Thtre de la
Ville in Paris, Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. His
dbut recording for the Fuga Libera label with the complete works for viola, by the
Belgian composer Joseph Jongen, has been released to great critical acclaim. Nathan's
recent recordings include the Dvorak piano quartet op.87 released on EMI Classics as
part of the "Martha Argerich and Friends: Live from the Lugano Festival 2012" series).

Camerata Kilkenny
The Badke Quartet, formed in 2002, is widely recognised as one of Britains finest
string quartets and has received widespread acclaim for its energetic and vibrant
performances. It has worked with some of the worlds greatest string quartets and
studied with Gabor Takcs-Nagy at IMS Prussia Cove and members of the Alban Berg
Quartet in Cologne. The Badke Quartet regularly perform at concert halls and festivals in
the UK and abroad, including Aldeburgh, Montreux, Bad Kissingen, Malm,
Mecklenburg, Ljubljana, Santander, Aix-en-Provence, Verbier Presteigne, West Cork,
Londons Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, and the Musikverein in Vienna. Future plans
include a return to the Concertgebouw, a tour of the USA and a performance at the
Haydn String Quartet Festival at the Court Theatre in Esterhazy Palace.

Camerata Kilkenny is an acclaimed international ensemble founded by Swiss violinist
Maya Homburger and the Irish harpsichordist and organist Malcolm Proud. They have
performed at major festivals throughout Ireland and Europe. In this final concert of the
2015 Barrow River Arts Festival they are joined by German soprano Anja Pche for
choral and instrumental music of J.S. Bach including his sublime Wedding Cantata BWV
202 Weichet nur, betrbte Schatten with the German oboist Michael Niesemann as
special guest.
