1) Action vs. Description Verbs, Intransitive vs. Transitive Verbs

A. A description verb corresponds to English be + adjective
Description verbs generally dont occur in
propositive or imperative sentences.
B. An action verb is like a doing verb in English
C. Transitive verbs take objects: noun + / may precede the verb
D. Intransitive verbs cannot take objects
All description verbs are intransitive
E. Both transitive and intransitive verbs may be preceded by noun + /
F. Inflected forms may occur as complete sentences.
Subject/topic is often dropped when it can be inferred.
2) Future Tense in Korean
A. Future Tense Suffix: -B. -- in a statement indicates speakers intention for the future
C. -- in a question asks addressee about future intention/opinion
D. If the topic is anything other than speaker or addressee, -- indicates an
opinion or presumption about the subject or topic
3) Honorifics
A. When the subject and/or topic is honored, a verb suffix -()- [(c)v] is added
immediately after the verb stem
B. The honorific suffix -()- always precedes other suffixes
C. The honorific suffix is not used if the subject is inferior
to the speaker; also, the speaker never honors himself
4) Negative
A. Prefixing an inflected form with expresses negation
B. With some verbs, another form of negation is used (next
unit)
5) Particle from, at, in, on
A. A place nominal + denotes either a dynamic location (place where action
occurs) or point of departure for the following inflected form
ex: = Im coming from Seoul.
= We study in the classroom.
B. If is combined with (where), it is contracted to
6) Particle to
A. A place nominal + followed by (go) or (come) indicates the direction
of the action of the inflected expression
