NATIONAL ORGAN DONOR SABBATH
NOVEMBER 12, 13, AND 14
T ransplantations save lives, but only if you
help. All you need to do is say yes to
organ and tissue donation on your donor
card and/or driver's license and discuss your
decision with your family.
Each day about 63 people receive an
organ transplant, but another 16 people on
the waiting list die because not enough
organs are available.
Talk to your family members about organ
and tissue donation so they know your
wishes. Even if you've signed something, your
family may be asked to give consent before
donation can occur.
Be an organ and tissue donor. You could
save or enhance the lives of more than 50
people!

Angeles for several years on a number of
social justice issues, she spent eight years in
Washington, D.C. as field director for an arms
control organization and a consultant with

announced that a committee of
U.S. and Mexican bishops was putting
the final touches on a joint pastoral
statement dealing with immigration
and related matters. Plans call for the
full body of bishops in each country to
approve it at meetings in November
so that the final version can be
published in both English and Spanish
on Jan. 22, the anniversary of Pope
John Paul II’s 1999 Mexico City
apostolic exhortation, “The Church in
America.” The meeting of the U.S.
bishops will take place Nov. 11-14 in
Washington, D.C.
