Problem Statement
Does management education help individuals to be more successful in their
career?

Research Objectives:
1. To understand whether management helps in solving problems related to
various areas like Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain etc.
2. To ascertain whether management study helps in transforming an individuals
attitude towards anything they do
3. To determine if management study provides a competitive edge over others as
far as career opportunities and job prospects go
4. To find out whether the concepts learnt during management have any
practical application

Importance:
With so much of talks around management studies in last decade, onset of startup boom in India and greater focus on communication skills, increased
importance given to leadership qualities etc., it is important to understand if
management studies are important for individuals. With the increasing year-onyear fees of MBA course, it is important that every aspirant understands its
relevance. It will also help ascertain whether an MBA degree helps an individual
grow professionally. And it would greatly help in understanding as to how
changes can be made to the way education is imparted if at all any loopholes are
found and what its future prospects are.
This research can be beneficial to:
1. MBA aspirants
2. Corporate entities who wish to hire MBA graduates
3. Management Institutes

Means of Data collection:


Questionnaires: A set of questions to gauge the importance of management
studies by asking them questions based on their work, personal achievements,
challenges faced. The questionnaires will be sent through emails or by mail. They
will be yes/no questions as well as a few qualitative questions.
Interviews: This will include set of questions to be asked to target audience in
order to understand the perspective of various respondents.

Data Analysis:
The questions are arranged based on decreasing order of favourable questions.
Each question is weighted as per the rank. Q1-1, Q2-2, etc. Each of this weight
will be multiplied by total respondents who say yes for the question. Then we will
receive a weighted average for the sample set. If the weighted average is less
than 5, management studies are helpful else it is not.

Results/ Interpretation:
If the weighted average number is 1, it means that management studies are
highly helpful. Then if the weighted average is greater than 1, significance of
management studies decreases relatively and if weighted average is 10 it means
that management studies is not at all relevant.
