Finance

In the finance department, there are totally three employees.


The finance department is provided with computers.
Each of the person is equipped with a computer.
They maintain separate account for raw materials, marketing, salary and
bonus, production and maintenance.

Production

The production department carries out activities of spinning.


They have machineries to convert cotton into thread.
The labors employed here are semi skilled.
Employees are trained before they are allotted work, but the training is not
intensive.

Most of the people working here are aged more than 40 years.
Only people operating a computer system are young employees.
Employees here have enough experience.
Employees working in this company for more than 7 years get a diwali bonus
of twice their monthly salary.

HR

Marketing

The marketing department is the most important department.


This department has direct contact with all their customers.
The needs of customers are enquired and are satisfied.
Discounts are given to customers in festival season.

Logistics

This department is responsible for delivery of goods to customers.


The company owns three lorries to deliver goods to its customers.
The company always has extra goods to meet unplanned delivery of goods.
In case of unexpected booking, the company gets its product delivered by
some third party logistics company.

Inventory

This department takes care of maintaining the raw materials for its
production process
This department is keen on reducing the maintenance cost of its
inventory. This is done by maintaining the optimum inventory level.

Systems

The every department in this company is located in such a way that the flow
of goods from starting state to finished state takes the minimum possible
distance.
The inventory department is located just before the production department
so that raw materials can be supplied easily to the production department.
The finished goods department is situated at the tail end of the production
department.
This in turn is located near the logistics department so that uploading of
goods is easier.

CASE STUDY
One peculiar problem that this company faced was shortage of new labors to this
industry. The main reason being the absence of career development. Moreover,
government itself provides education to people which resulted in less labor supply.
The reason being literate people are unwilling to work here.
This company drafted a solution to this problem in a surprisingly simple way. With
the advent of advanced machineries, the labor requirement was reduced to a
significant level. The remaining requirement was met by employing female workers
from the nearby villages. This was possible because the work never demanded
laborious work.
