INTRODUCTION

Notwithstanding the fact that the increasing interest in research articles have
heightened the need of aspect of academic writing for university students across
the globe. In many ways, based on Lim (2014), he has establish the reason of
increasing fascination among scholars about the analysis of research introduction
which is linked to both crucial theoretical impacts and variety of practical
applications of the findings gained from such genre-based research. Thus, in
fulfilment of my course requirement, research in Electric and Electronic of
Engineering is required. According to Katehi, Pearson, & Feder (2009), engineering
design involves the following essential components: identifying the problem;
specifying requirements of the solution; sketching and visualizing the solution;
modelling and analyzing the solution; evaluating alternative solutions, as necessary;
and optimizing the final decision. Consequently, electric and electronic engineering
is an engineering science that applies electricity and electromagnetism in a creative
and practical manner. An alternative distinction refers to electrical engineering as
the study and application of electricity to process systems. Due to the importance of
Electric and Electronic Engineering, I have found the reason to extend this study
because theres have been a large number of studies devoted to the research
article genre alone, in particular, its structure and elements inside the research
article. The research article is basically a paper that is written by a researcher to
elaborate more about his or her research (Samraj, 2002).
A research article usually has Introduction sections, Method sections, Results
sections, Discussion sections, and Conclusion sections. These main sections are
called IMRD/C, which are the acronyms for those words. The standard format for
writing this particular genre includes abstract before the five main sections. On the
basis of Samraj (2005), the structure of research reports abstracts has been
discussed for the most part in terms of the macrostructure of the research report
which was introduction, methods, results and discussion. Extra sections might be
included in the research articles due to the different subfield where there have an
experimental work, theoretical framework and also calculation. While conclusion,
acknowledges and references included to support the data and theoretical. Thus,
readers can gain important information from the reading of all the elements in the
research article.
However, the most important part that need to be focused so that the
readers can understand better in our research article is the Introduction. According
to Samraj (2002), he said that one aspect of the research article that has perhaps
been most studied in the introduction. This is because introduction is the most
challenging part to write in the paper because it gives an initial prospective to the
reader on what the research is all about and also provides general information with
all background information of the research. Hence, an introduction section is very
crucial as it become the first impression for the readers.
By following the introduction of Swales (1990 and 2004) which is Create a
Research Spaces (CARS), the introduction of Juan C. Reboredo (2015) have three
moves in the introduction sections. The three moves are establishing a research
territory, establishing a niche, and also occupying the niche labelled as Move 1,
Move 2 and Move 3 respectively (Hirano, 2009). Establishing a territory which is

Move 1 is done by pointing out the important of the general subject, making
generalization on subject and review previous research. Establishing a niche is in
Move 2 by involving two steps which are indicating a gap and adding to what is
known. While Move 3 which is occupying the niche is done by presenting research
questionnaire, announcing principal outcome, announcing research value and
outlining. Samraj (2002) said that we still need to carry out more research in this
particular topic in order to help the beginner writers to understand more and easy
to write a research report with a lot of reference.
Identifying the information elements and the language used in the
introduction sections of the journal articles related to the field of engineering is the
main resolution on conducting this research. Some researcher might have different
way of style and approaches in writing the introduction sections based on their
different subfield, so the readers can refer and understand more about this sections
in the future. For me, a research article like this really helps me to improve my
knowledge in writing one. Now I can differentiate the difference between articles in
my fields and also others. This also will help other researchers in Electric and
Electronic Engineering to initiate their own introduction and can help them to
understand the language used by the writer to express their own ideas.
Throughout this research article, I have organized and arrange the outline of
the research article. The introduction section will provide the reader a literature
review on the topic that have been studied. The method section is where the writers
show about research design, how they collected and analyze the data. Statistical
analysis, charts and also graphs can be included in order for another researcher to
verify this method. The way I present and discuss the results of my research is
based on analyzing the frequencies of information elements based on (CARS) model
in Introduction sections related to Electric and Electronic Engineering in Results
sections. Finally, I conclude my research article with explanation on the
interpretation of the results that I get in the Discussion sections.
