Name of the organization: CHILD VOICE

Title of the proposed project: Imparting Basic education among Tribal children through supplementary
education centres at Kodaikanal areas in Dindigul district.
Context:Tribal children and their families are most vulnerable in this society because
they are very much poor in economic and educational background. The
highest education among children status is one or few children are
completed 10th std. After which they are not going for higher studies they
work in farms as a daily labors. Most of the tribal children are not attending
schools properly because of low interest in education, no care from parents
side and no proper knowledge on importance of education and neglected
from teachers. Mostly they live in hilly places where there is no good schools,
no transportation facilities, no way for basic needs. In this situation no one is
ready to take care of these children in terms of education, Health and
nutrition. No one is interested to go and work there if there are any one or
two schools. Parents are not having time to educate their children due to lack
of awareness on education and their part is to work as a daily labor in the
farms at low salary and meeting out the day to day life not even
concentrating on childrens education and health/ hygiene.

Most of our target people are Tribal children. We started working with
these kinds of children with the prime objective to imparting Basic education
through educational development by conducting supplementary education
centres, sports and cultural activities.
Vision:Ensuring basic education of Tribal children in Kodaikanal

Mission:Our Mission is to make a difference among Tribal childrens life by

imparting Basic education.
Project Goals and Objectives:The overall project objective is to promoting the educational development of
Tribal Children at Kodaikanal areas in Dindigul district.
Programs:1. Supplementary education Centres for tribal children:Supplementary education to improve the basic education of the children who
are studying in schools and being Dropout from schools. Since the targeted
area parents are uneducated. In most of the family both the parents are
bread winner of the family. So they unable to concentrate on their childrens
education through promoting these Supplementary education centres in
each village the childrens education will be improved. Also it will help the
children to develop their extra-curricular activities.
Activities:

Four centres in 4 villages, each centre consist of maximum of 30

children per teacher. Tuitions from 5.00pm to 8.00pm 5 days in a
week. During this time their class work will be concentrated and
Basic education/fundamental educational will be taught to
children.
Apart from their class work they will be encouraged in games
and cultural activities. Every day they will have time to play.
Once in a year cultural programs will be conducted and the
students talents will be rewarded with prizes and certificates.
Frequently their health status will be checked. Each student will
have a health card to follow. Students who are giving good
remarks in their study and attendance will be rewarded every
year.
Once in a month parents meeting will be organized.

Responsibility of the teacher: Teachers who have finished their education minimum of +2 from the
community preferably Tribal back ground.
Teachers have to maintain attendance of the students, log book ( about
their activities for the week or month)
Teachers have to submit report about their centre monthly to the trust.

 Teachers have to maintain socio economic background of the student

(case study).
2. Educational sponsor for 199 children who are economically
backward:Identifying economically backward families in the community, who all are
really not able to pay their childrens education fees and supporting their
education.

Health education for childrens parents once in 4 months.

Once in a year students will be taken to picnic.

Criteria for selecting students for sponsor:

The family depends on daily wages

Children who are studying in Government schools and dropout children
from schools.
Tribal community
Expected Results (or) outcome:This project will help the children to learn and practice Basic education
in their day to day life.
This will bring a transformation change through awareness among
children and their parents in terms of importance of education.

Total cost for 4 supplementary education centres and staff salary for a
year is Rs. 1,33,200
