self-written life story or the
story of a persons life written
by himself or herself.
Phama: The forms of autobiography
are journal, letters, diaries,
memoir and autobiography itself.
Garrett: The journals, diaries and
letters are not usually intended
for publication by the writer.
They serve as the basis or source
of the autobiography. While memoir

(Put visual aid.)

Phama and Lorraine: Thank you

Maam!

Dhalyn: This picture is all

about good Samaritan. The boy
here which wearing his boy
scout uniform helped the old
woman in crossing the street.

Phama: There was an old lady

who hesitates to cross the
lane because she knew that
the go signal light will
appear again. She waited an
hour at the other side. Then,
a boy scout comes to help
her. The boy was just 9 years
old; he came from the seminar
or training. What he learned
from the training is what he
applies. The old lady was
very happy that she had
crossed the lane through the
help of a good boy. This
picture was taken during the
boy assistance to an old
lady.

Please read all the words and

its meaning together.

C. Presentation of the lesson

by Jesus Coln to the students. The teacher discusses the background
of the author through power point.

Teachers Activity
Our lesson for today is:
Little Things are Big
written by Jesus Coln.

Students Activity

Jesus Coln is a writer who

was born in Puerto Rico and
immigrated to New York City,
as have nearly two million

Courtesy is a characteristic of the Puerto Rican. And here I

am a Puerto Rican. Hours past midnight, valise, two white
children, and a white lady with a baby on her arm badly needing
somebody to help her until she got down the long concrete
stairs.
But how could I, a black and a Puerto Rican, approach this
lady? I knew she very likely might be prejudiced against blacks
and everybody with foreign accents. And we were in a deserted
subway station, very late at night.
What would she say? What would be the first reaction of
this American woman, perhaps coming from a small town, with a
valise, two children and baby on her right arm? Would she say,
"Yes, of course, you may help me?" Or would she think that just
trying to get too familiar? Or would she think worse that
perhaps? What would I do if she let out a scream as I moved
toward her to ofer my help?
Was I misjudging her? So many slanders are written every
day in the newspapers against the blacks and Puerto Ricans. I

D. Synthesis
Teachers Activity
Okay class, if you were
Jesus Colon, would you do
the same? Yes, Dhalyn?

Students Activity
Dhalyn: If I were Jesus
Colon, I would not do the
same because it was his time
that he can prove to the lady
that even hes a black man he
is good and a big heart to
help her.

Very good Dhalyn.

What if you will see your
enemy or hated person in the
world whos bullied by
someone? Would you help
her/him? Why?

Lorraine: Yes, Maam though

its not easy. Because I had
experience to be bullied and
it hurts me a lot so, by
protecting her to bullies I
also ease the pain being
bullied at the past.

Very good Lorraine. Thats

right class its somehow
lessen the hurt if you help
somebody.
Yes, Phama?

Very good Phama.

Yes Garrett?

Very good insight Garrett.

IV.

EVALUATION

Phama: Even that she/he is my

mortal enemy I will still
help him/her because I know
that I am good. If he/she
cant show what is a good
person was I will show
him/her my good personality.

Garrett: Just what they said

the hurt of being bullied is
different from physical ones.
I will help him because I
know that he is not causing
something bad to others. If
he is in the right side I
will be with his side to help
him. I will just keep away
the issue between us.
