AT&T Announces $5,000 Innovation Award

to Support Dual Enrollment Academy at WCTC
AT&T Funding Will Expand Program to Include Industry Tours for Students
PEWAUKEE, Monday, April 27, 2015 AT&T announced today a $5,000 AT&T Innovation & Investment Award
to the Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) Foundation to expand the Dual Enrollment Academy to
include industry tours for participating students.
The Dual Enrollment Academy at WCTC is a program that allows high school seniors to take college-level
courses in programs that have high-skill, high-demand, and high-wage employment opportunities.
The AT&T donation will allow WCTC to provide a day of tours in August with industry partners across Waukesha
County for students who are officially accepted into the program for the following school year. Over 50 students
are expected to participate in the Dual Enrollment Academy next year.
The goal of the Dual Enrollment Academy is for students to recognize the abundance of opportunities available
to them, from entry-level manufacturing positions to higher-level positions, and to continue their education
beyond the program, said Ellen S. Phillips, president of the WCTC Foundation. Thanks to AT&Ts donation,
we are excited to offer industry tours as part of this program to expose students to the variety of careers
available in the manufacturing industries within Waukesha County.
WCTC is currently in its second year running the Dual Enrollment Academy. Enrolled students attend WCTC
during the school year for four hours per day from Monday through Friday, earning 20-24 college credits. The
program focuses on coursework that supports the attainment of technical skills in the areas of Tool and Die/
CNC, Welding/Metal Fabrication, and Printing and Publishing.
We are very proud to support the efforts of Waukesha County education and business leaders to engage
students in the promising careers available in manufacturing, said Scott T. VanderSanden, president of AT&T
Wisconsin. As a company, AT&T is committed to investing in education and helping prepare our young people
for future success.

Students who successfully complete the program in June graduate with a high school diploma, a WCTC
Technical diploma, industry connections and secured employment with plans for continuing education.
The Dual Enrollment Academy is a great way to not only get our young people excited about the manufacturing
profession, but also show them the variety of manufacturing careers available to them, said State Senator Paul
Farrow (R-Pewaukee). It is great to see business and industry partners stepping forward to support these
efforts.
