OBITUARY
Roy Christenson
Roy P. Christenson, 87, passed
away on Sunday, April 19, 2015, of
natural causes at Northern Montana
Care Center in Havre.

Cremation has taken place, and
memorial services will be held at
2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2015,
at 1st Congregational Church, 629
2nd Ave N, Glasgow, Montana, with
Pastor Rick Thompson. Holland
& Bonine Funeral Home has been
entrusted with arrangements.
Please visit Roys online memorial
page and leave a message of
condolence for his family at www.
hollandbonine.com.

Roy was born on May 11, 1927,
in Hanks, ND, to Peter and Esther
(Sovold) Christenson, and was
raised on the family farm outside of
Hanks. Following his school years,
Roy enlisted in the US Army, and
served in the Korean War until he
was honorably discharged from the
service. Following his return home,
Roy moved to Glasgow and worked

for a short time for Elmer Johnson

Plumbing before purchasing the
Buckhorn Bar in Wheeler, and
he relocated to Wheeler. Roy
remained in Wheeler for several
years, and while there began fishing
commercially on Fort Peck Lake. He
also began working as a plumber
during the off season. Eventually,
Roy stopped fishing commercially,
and simply operated his thriving
plumbing business, which was
located in Nashua. He retired from
plumbing, and relocated to Idaho
Falls, ID, for a short time. Making
his way back to Montana, Roy then
moved to Fort Benton, where he
remained for just a couple of years.
He moved on to settle in Big Sandy
for a number of years to be closer
to his sons and grandchildren, and
spent his last three years in Havre.
Roy enjoyed playing cribbage
and pinochle, hunting, fishing,
golfing, watching older comedy
shows and westerns, and reading his
aviation magazines and war history
books. He loved playing with his

grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death
by his parents Peter and Esther
Christenson; his sister Evelyn
Herness; and his brothers Paul and
Gordon Christenson.
He is survived by his sons
Peter (Sarah) and Jason (Laci
Keller) Christenson, all of Havre;
his grandchildren Gavin and Tryg
Christenson and Emerald Tinsley;
his siblings Ellavon Weber of
Phoenix, AZ, Phyllis (Stan) Newton
and Dale (Darla) Christenson,
all of Billings, and David (Cindy)
Christenson of Glasgow; and
numerous cousins, nieces, and
nephews.

instructor Carmen Corey on the right, gather for a photo after a very successful field day.

Bowhunter Education Class Offered in Glasgow

The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks
Bowhunter Education dates have been
set for the second course offered in
Glasgow.

All first time bowhunters, regardless
of age, must complete a bowhunter
education course to purchase an archery
stamp in Montana. State law requires
that anyone using an archery license,
or hunting with archery equipment,
must show either a previous years
archery license or a certification from
a bowhunter education course to buy a
stamp. Students must be at least 11-years
old on the first day of class to be eligible
for certification. The course is free of
charge.
The Glasgow course is set for May
15-17. Classes will run from 5:30-8:30
p.m. on Friday, 8-4 p.m. on Saturday,
and from 3-5:30 p.m. on Sunday for the
field day. The location for the classroom
portion will be in Glasgow, but actual
location for the field day is yet to be
determined.
Prospective students need to pick up

their Bowhunter Education book Todays

Bowhunter at the FWP office in Glasgow.
Please read and answer the questions in
the back of the book before the first day
of class, and bring all necessary forms.
There are currently 20 spots available.
Also, there are 10 spots available for the
field day for hunters over 18 that have
taken the online course. If you have any
questions, contact course coordinator
Carmen Corey at 406-230-1266.
To register for the Bowhunter
Education classes, go to the FWP website
at www.fwp.mt.gov. Look under the
Education tab, go to the Hunter
Education heading, and click on the
Hunter education programs link. On
the next screen, click on the Find a
class or field course, click Register for a
Bowhunter education classroom course
and follow the directions from there.
Make sure to print out all necessary
material and sign all necessary forms! If
you have any questions, or do not have
access to a computer, please call the
Glasgow FWP office at 228-3700.
