Lesson Plan:
Remind students at the beginning of the session that there will be 10 minutes at the end of the
session in which they can ask you questions in English.
Part A: Whole group together (10-15 minutes) Move from student to student, but give students
plenty of time to think and respond before helping them along. The group should be in a circle of
chairs or around a table.
Greetings and vocabulary drill
Greet students as a group as well as individually. Initiate casual conversation inquiring after the
students and how they are feeling. Once everyone has settled into the classroom and is ready,
give each person a vocabulary word from the group you created and ask for each person to create

a sentence using that vocabulary word. In each sentence the student must use a noun, verb, and
adjective.
Descriptive Images
Show the different images to the group one-by-one. Ask the students to describe the person or
object in the image using two full sentences. Allow the students time to respond and formulate
their sentences. Avoid interjecting too quickly in order to assist them.
Part B: Students work in pairs for dialogue practice (15-20 minutes)
Scenario I: Two friends are discussing where they want to go for vacation but cannot agree on a
location. Each pair will reenact a dialogue in which one friend wants to go to a different location
than the other. They describe the different activities you can do at these places and what they are
like.
Scenario II: Students will role play a situation in which two friends are talking on the telephone.
One friend is getting ready for a party but does not know what to wear. The two friends discuss
on the phone the different outfit options. The student attending the party describes the different
options she has and what she wants to wear and the friend will ask questions about the different
options. Make sure students switch roles.
Scenario III: Students act out a conversation between two friends expressing what they want to
do for the day and describing the different activity options.
Part C: Whole group together (15-20 minutes)
Activity 1: Show the group the photograph or image you brought in of a group of people at
someones home for a party. Have students describe the scene, the people, the different objects in
the room and what the different people are talking about. Have fun with it!
Activity 2: Read Trkiye dnda Trkler in ET, Unit 8, Section 12 and afterwards have students
answer the questions you prepared for the session. Ask the questions aloud and encourage
students to answer the questions orally rather than writing them down.
*Activity 3: Cultural Activity you prepared.

Give the students a chance to ask questions in English during the last 5-10 minutes. This is
a good time to discuss cultural issues that came up during the session. End the session on a
positive note. Practice appropriate parting/goodbye/see you again phrases.
