[UTCE] ADMISSION INFORMATION

The admission procedure for scholarship receipt

The administration of MEXT-University and ADB-JSP is undertaken through the Screening
Committee of the Department of Civil Engineering and a secretariat called the Foreign
Student Office (The Civil FSO). The Screening Committee provides the overall direction for
the program and annually selects candidates to receive scholarships, and the Civil FSO is
responsible for day-to-day function of the scholarship program.
1. Please check the website " How to apply" provided by the Civil FSO
2. The Department, using its standard criteria, will evaluate the applications by reviewing
submitted documents. It also undertakes the allotment and short-list of the scholarship
candidates.
3. The Department will announce the result of preliminary selection to all short-listed
candidates.
4. The Department will endorse the eligible short-listed candidates to the partner
scholarship organizations.
5. The partner scholarship organizations will make a final selection and inform the result
to the Department (the Civil FSO) accordingly.
6. The Department will announce the result of final selection to all short-listed candidates
and make arrangements for successful ones to take up their scholarship including
admission from the University of Tokyo.

Important Notes on Admission Procedures

1. The scholarship offers are granted on the combination of merit, analysis of financial
resources, and the sponsors' qualification standards. Diversification of nationality in

and lesser scholarship grants.
3. No separate applications to MEXT-University and ADB-JSP are necessary.
4. Only endorsed candidates will be entitled to MEXT-University and ADB-JSP.
5. Submission of the department-specific application forms does not mean that you have
been accepted for a scholarship or granted admission. You should not take any action
with your current employment or likewise until you have been informed by the
