has moved closer to becoming a single
nation comprised of subordinate states.
Jesuit educated Herman van Rompuy,
Belgium Prime Minister, has been elected
to a two and a half year term as the first
full-time EU president. Formerly, rotating
presidents from various EU countries
served part time for only 6 months.
In his acceptance speech, Rompuy lost
no time in revealing his viewpoint: “2009
is also the first year of global governance
with the establishment of the G20 in
the middle of the financial crisis.” And:
“The climate conference in Copenhagen is
another step toward the global management

Belief in Hell Good for the Economy
A recent report by the Federal Reserve
Bank of St. Louis concludes that a belief
in hell is good for the economy. The
report was based on studies that included
35 countries. Those with a wide-spread
belief in punishment in the afterlife for
sins committed, tended to have the highest
standard of living.
It has long been obvious that corruption
was the primary factor in keeping a country
poor. Much of the population of Africa
and Latin America suffer grinding poverty
while a rich, corrupt leadership revels in
luxury.
Haiti is a classic example. Widely
considered the poorest country in
the Western Hemisphere, millions
of dollars have been poured into it by
relief organizations. Yet there has been
little improvement in the situation of the
common people.

Ultimately he found himself driving the

stolen the money that should have built
roads, bridges and power plants necessary
to support a growing economy.
Again, the Bible is right: “Righteousness
exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach
to any people.” (Prov. 14:34). When we
began legalizing sin, our prosperity came
into jeopardy.
The Bible standard was cast aside to make
drunkenness, abortion, homosexuality, and
even gluttony acceptable. Instead of God
seekers, we became pleasure seekers, as
one author has put it: “Amusing ourselves
to death.”
Never before in history have so many
people in a nation lived so well as we
have. Righteousness has exalted us, but
now, without revival, we are sliding into
“reproach.” But revivals in the past began
in the common people, by a saturation of

How to Speed-Test a New
Bible Version
By David W. Daniels
A friend tells you about a new Bible
version you have never seen before. You
know God doesn’t want any words taken
away, so you are wary.
But you don’t keep a bunch of “test
verses” tucked away in your mind. Is this
new Bible missing anything? If you have
a copy of Look What’s Missing, you can
easily check it for your friend.
I’ll show you how with a translation so
new it’s not even finished yet. It’s only got
Matthew and Mark. Are you ready?
Turn to the “short list” of missing
verses starting at page 137 of Look What’s
Missing. You can use this list to test any
version. But we are going to test a new
version called the Conservapedia Bible
Project (CBP), that can be found at www.
conservapedia.com.
What is Missing from the CBP Bible?
Right away, you see that Matthew 17:21
is in brackets [ ]. So is Matthew 18:11.
The footnote says, “The provenance of this
verse is disputed.”
That’s a fancy way of saying the author
doesn’t believe it belongs, but put it there
anyway so you can feel happy about using
his book. So it’s there, but it’s not really
“scripture” to the author. Get it?
You find as you continue checking
verses in Matthew and Mark that the other
scriptures are in the text, even if they are
reworded a lot.
But then we come to the last section,
Mark 16:9-20. Is it in brackets? No. Is it
in italics? No. Is it separated by a bar or
indented with a note? No. Then is it in the
footnotes? Not even that. It’s just missing.
After 16:8 we find a small raised
“a” that leads us to a footnote, saying,
“Passages after this point are not found
in the oldest manuscripts.” Now wait a

filled Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are missing
these important verses.
That’s less than 1/3 of 1% of all Greek
manuscripts and they are not the oldest
manuscripts.1 So the translator completely
removed those 12 verses —based on a lie.
Are the missing words important?
We have only found three selections,
totaling 14 verses, missing from these two
books of the CBP. But you can see the
pattern. There will most likely be a lot more
missing words, phrases and verses as the
project continues.
You have only checked the CBP against
the short list. Look What’s Missing contains
over 250 verses you can use to check any
Bible version. I have only shown you a few
of the verses in Matthew and Mark.

important? Do you think it’s important

Government Solution to Sin:
Tax It Away
The Founding fathers of the United
States knew how to deal with sin: that only
the Spirit of God could change the heart
and prevent sin. Today, in many ways the
government has replaced the church and is
now embarking on a faulty solution to the
sin problem in our culture.
Recognizing that much of our medical
costs stem from sinful behavior, legisla-
tors are proposing more “lifestyle taxes”
on that behavior which causes so much of
our medical costs. Already, many states
have placed a heavy tax on cigarettes and
alcohol, expecting a dual benefit: increased

Just days after Rompuy’s installation,
the EU foreign ministers issued a statement
pushing for Jerusalem to be divided with

we are living in that day.
Persecution of Bible believers is another
prophetic theme in Scripture. Estimates
run as high as 50,000 are martyred each
year. Nearly one fourth of the world lives
in Islamic countries where Christians are

proposing to tax soft drinks, junk food, fruit
juices and even chocolate milk in the hopes
of raising money to pay for health care
for all and at the same time, discouraging
costly obesity that they believe is caused by

sinners about hell, hearts were changed by

forbidden. Another third lives in India
and China where Christians are regularly
attacked by Buddhists, Hindus or driven
underground by the government.
Christians in the other third in the
Western World generally do not have to
fear for their lives, but secular materialism
has succeeded in crowding them to the
margins of the culture under the banner
of evolution. The Bible predicts rising
lawlessness in the last days. God’s law has
been trampled by the legalization of sins
such as abortion, sodomy and fornication.
Another sign of the end is that the love
of many will wax cold. Unfortunately,
many who claim to be “Christians” no
longer demonstrate a love for the gospel
and the sinner. Bible believers must keep
their focus on the great commission. We
must test everyone we can to see if they are
ready to hear the gospel.
If we don’t have time to talk to them
personally, it takes only a couple of seconds
to place the gospel into their hands with a
tract that contains a compelling story and a
clear challenge to surrender to Jesus.
Then their choice will determine their
eternal destiny, and we can be assured that
we have clearly presented them with that
choice and their blood will not be on our
hands. (See Eze. 3:18.)

‘Can You Get Us Some More?’
Every time a missionary is supplied
with Chick tracts, the result is the same:
they can’t get enough. Missionary Donnie
Whitlock is no exception. He works
throughout Asia but his latest report is
from the Philippines.
“The Lord knows the need is great and
the door of opportunity is now opened,”
writes Whitlock. “I have had the privilege
to preach throughout the world (38 nations/
many islands), but never have I been
in a place as open to the Gospel as the
Philippines.”

Whitlock reports:
“The Lord allowed
me to preach in a
public high school to 1,800 students, plus
77 teachers and many other workers. The
principal of this school is a Christian, so
she asked if I would come and preach with
no strings attached. There were over 400
professions of faith.
“I am having some local pastors follow-
up and make sure of their decision for
Christ. The team with me was able to give
each student a copy of This Was Your Life
in the Filipino language. They were so
excited. Only eternity will give us the total
response of what took place.”
Pastor Requests More Chick Tracts
Whitlock has had hundreds of requests
for more tracts. One local pastor went to
a large mall and soon ran out of tracts.
He came back and reported: “I watched
the people sitting everywhere reading that
tract. Can you get us some more?”
“This has been the result all over the
areas I have gone,” says Whitlock, who
ministers widely to other parts of Asia.
Most of the tracts that Whitlock uses
are furnished by Christians in America
who sacrifice so they can focus their
resources and buy tracts at a deep discount
in large quantities.
One such Christian has supplied
Whitlock with tens of thousands of tracts
in several languages.
One of Whitlock’s ministries is to the
local pastors. He has developed training
guides and other materials in several
languages specifically for local pastors.
Next year he is planning a camp meeting
just for pastors and their families in the
Philippines.
He writes: “We would love to have
thousands of tracts to send back with
these pastors
into their areas
of service at the
end of the camp.
It is amazing
how many tracts
these people can
distribute.
“They love

smokers and homosexuals realized they
needed forgiveness and were delivered.
Gluttony was recognized and dealt with.
A much smaller government was needed
to only deal with the few who insisted on
living in rebellion.
Studies have shown that the more that
people are encouraged to trust the govern-
ment for their care, the lower the church
attendance. And the more the church
neglects to speak out against sin, the more
the government steps in to try to solve the
problems caused by that sin.
Proverbs 14:34 says, “Righteousness
exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to
any people.” Not only have we glorified sin
in our media, we have begun to legalize it
in abortion and homosexuality. Now we are
reaping our reproach.
If it is possible to correct the situation,
repentance and revival is the only answer.

Revelation chapters 9 and 18 speak of
sorceries deceiving men in the last days.
Today, that prophecy is being fulfilled
before our eyes. We are there as predicted.

Paul asked, “How shall they hear without
a preacher?” Too many “preachers” have
neglected the rest of the gospel: hell is

but could not forget the picture of the angel
dropping the sinner into the flames of hell.
Years later, they surrendered to Christ.
Many of the revivals in history were

ting gospel tracts. The Holy Spirit used
them to melt the hearts of enough sinners
that God’s judgment was averted.
Today, we still have a chance to turn
back the “reproach” of our nation. But men
must see sin for what it is: a sure ticket to
hell where the party is cancelled because of
fire and no exit.

it is day. Unless we do, the night will come
sooner than we think. Seed your commu-

Episcopalians Refuse Homosexual
Lies, Fall Into Pope’s Trap
Confusion continues to reign in the 70
million member Anglican “church” with
the election of the second homosexual
to a bishop level leadership. In a
balloting during the annual convention
of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles,
Lesbian Mary D. Glasspool was selected
as a candidate for assistant bishop in the
diocese.
The first open homosexual, V. Gene
Robinson, was elected bishop in 2003.
Since then, the denomination has been
torn by members pointing out that the
Bible calls homosexuality an abomination.
Some parishes have pulled out to join
foreign dioceses or create their own.
However, the ones who are attempting
to get back to a biblical standard are being
enticed to join another highly unbiblical
organization. Like a wolf watching from
the bushes for a weakened animal, the
pope is offering to give sanctuary to the
Anglican leaders and congregations.
Using the bait that they have a common
opposition to homosexual clergy, he is
offering to waive the celibacy requirement
and allow them to become Roman
Catholic priests.
Some have already accepted the pope’s
offer. How sad that they are trying to
observe the biblical standard on sodomy
and overlooking what the Bible has to say
about the pope’s prostitute “church.”
Unfortunately, many who consider
themselves to be Bible-believing
evangelicals are just as confused about
popery as the misguided Anglicans.
They have bought the lie that Roman

He is called the “vicar” of Christ —one

Jesus warned repeatedly that many
would come in His name, claiming to
be Christ. (See Matt. 24:23-27.) People
would claim that Christ was in the desert
or hidden in some secret place. We are not
to believe them because when He comes
back everyone will see Him.

“church” so they will not be ensnared by
