Twin City Fan & Blower, the worlds largest supplier of plenum fans, now offers the completely redesigned E-Series, the
first plenum fan to be AMCA licensed for sound and air in
both an Arrangement 1 and 3 configuration.
The E-Series offers the flexibility of two plenum fan designs,
with each model offering its own unique performance
characteristics. While every E-Series fan is highly efficient
and quiet, you can choose an E-Series design option that
optimizes the performance requirements most important to
your application.

The standard E-Series plenum fans already offers a low vibration design, but when faced with stringent vibration requirements, Twin City Fan & Blower offers patent pending Ultra
Low Vibration (ULV) designs with a full spectrum dynamic
balance.
Along with the ULV balance guarantee, a full vibration report
is provided that includes a summary of banded spectrum limits, spectrum plots on 3 axes, a waterfall (cascade) plot, a time
waveform plot, and a transient capture (coast down) plot.

Space is often a key consideration in the selection of plenum
fans, making the compact Arrangement 3 configuration very
popular.
The Arrangement 3 configuration is constructed with a bearing and bearing bar in the inlet, which will affect fan performance. These performance affects should be taken into
account to ensure that your system functions as designed.
As the leading supplier of plenum fans, Twin City Fan
& Blower understands the importance of having confidence
in performance ratings. Twin City Fan provides our customers that confidence as the only plenum fan manufacturer to
offer AMCA licensed sound and air performance on both the
Arrangement 1 and 3 fan designs.

Plenum fans are unhoused fans designed to operate inside of
field-fabricated or factory-built air handling units.

iivv>*i>

The fan wheel pressurizes the entire surrounding air plenum

in which the fan is installed, allowing air ducts from any direction to be directly connected to the air handling unit enclosure.
This design generally saves space by eliminating the fan housing, transitions, and diffusers within the air handling unit.

Efficiency Plenum fans can be as efficient or more efficient

than scroll type fans at specific operating points towards the
bottom of the fan curve.

Plenum fans have found a ready acceptance in the air conditioning industry. In addition, the construction versatility,
adaptability in the direction of the discharges, suitability for
internal isolation and application of sound panels, and generally lower cost makes it a very popular fan arrangement.

Saves Space There are no housings, transitions, or diffusers

within the air handling unit.

Lower cost Plenum fans are less expensive than scroll type
fans.

The EPQ/EPQN plenum fans offers unique performance
features that are beneficial for many sound sensitive and
higher pressure applications.

will move the blade pass frequency from the second octave
band to the third octave band. Acoustic silencers will normally
perform about 10 dB better in the third band.

The EPQ/EPQN features a twelve-bladed airfoil wheel versus

the nine-bladed wheel of our type EPF/EPFN plenum fans
or eight- to ten-bladed wheels with most other competition.
The "Q" in the EPQ/EPQN designation stands for Better
Noise Quality. Noise quality is a subjective description for
noise that is less objectionable.

In addition to sound considerations, there are also additional benefits to using the EPQ/EPQN at higher pressures.
Selections over 8" wg static pressure are often near the peak
pressure of the fan. The additional blades give a higher peak
pressure and also add stability to the fan. Twelve smaller
passages through the fan wheel are more resistant to flow
disturbances on the inlet than nine larger passages. The EPQ/
EPQN is thus more resistant to system effects when operating
at high pressures and the higher inlet velocities that accompany these selections.

Looking at the sound comparison, you will notice that the type
EPQ/EPQN offers noise (SPL) that is more equally distributed across all frequencies. This can be more pleasant to hear
than the sound characteristics of a nine-bladed design. Fans
are often dominated in noise by the noise occurring at the
blade pass frequency. (Blade pass frequency = RPM x Number
of blades/60.) Noise quality is improved by reducing the difference in amplitude between the blade pass amplitudes and
the neighboring frequency amplitudes. The increased higher
frequency sound power levels on the twelve-bladed wheels
mask the blade pass frequency offering a better sounding fan.
Although the overall A-weighted sound power levels of the
nine-bladed EPF/EPFN fans are slightly lower, the sound
"quality" of the twelve-bladed EPQ/EPQN fans may be
desirable for the application.
A higher blade pass frequency allows for easier attenuation of
the noise, especially when installed inside an air handler cabinet. In many applications, the use of the EPQ/EPQN design

30/30

High-Capacity MERV 8 Pleated Panel Filter

The Camfil Farr 30/30 has set the industry standard

for pleated panel filters. With over 45 design
enhancements, it continues to provide the industrys
best value for medium efficiency filtration.
Setting the standard by which other pleated filters are
judged, modern media manufacturing techniques and
proprietary technological advancements ensure that
the Camfil Farr 30/30 is:

The best performing

pleated panel filter

guaranteed!

Guaranteed to perform
at the rated efficiency, or
better, throughout the life
of the filter.

Guaranteed to last
longer than any other
pleated panel filter.

Performing at MERV 8, using

a mechanical particle capture principle, the 30/30 will
not drop in efficiency while in service, as will other
pleated panel filters that incorporate an electret charge
to obtain a MERV 8 value.
Its radial pleat design provides the longest life and
lowest average pressure drop, reducing the number of
filter changes, so your facility will use less fan power
to move air through the filter.
The high wet-strength beverage frame and welded
wire media backing provide structural integrity in any
HVAC application, virtually eliminating the additional
costs associated with filter bypass or filter failure.
Available in 1, 2 or 4 deep configurations, the 30/30
is ideal for commercial, industrial, institutional or any
application where the ultimate level of protection of
equipment and indoor air quality is a concern.
The Camfil Farr 30/30 has an Energy Cost Index (ECI)
of five stars, the highest performance rating available.

Composite minimum efficiency values of the 30/30 when evaluated per

ASHRAE Standard 52.2. The 30/30 has a MERV of 8 and MERV-A of
8 when tested per appendix J.

1 A 5-star rating indicates that this filter performs in the top 20% of all products of
similar construction in the HVAC industry. Factors of consideration include maintained
efficiency, energy usage and resistance to air flow. Detailed evaluation information is
available from your Camfil Farr sales outlet or on the web at www.camfilfarr.com.

Exclusive MERV 8 Performance from Camfil Farr Media

The highest media weight, more than any other

pleated panel filter, and uniform lofting for high dust
holding capacity, ensure that the 30/30 will last longer
in any HVAC application.

The 30/30 media is manufactured from a proprietary blend of fibers that

incorporate a mechanical principle of particle capture. The filter does not
require an electret charge which would dissipate and reduce filter efficiency
after minimal hours of operation in a system. The media is lofted to a uniform
depth to enhance the depth-loading characteristic and ensure the longest
life of any pleated filter available. The high-loft also offers a lower resistance
to airflow, so fan horsepower required to move air through the filter is
minimized. Camfil Farr evaluates the quality of all incoming raw materials
to maintain product integrity as part of a rigorous quality control program.

Welded Wire Grid Maintains Radial Pleat Design

The media is formed into a radial pleat for uniform dust loading and full use of the media
area. V-style pleats will blind with bridging contaminant, when loading, preventing
full utilization of the media area and increasing the filters pressure drop, resulting
in increased energy usage. A welded wire grid, spot welded on one-inch centers
maintains each radial pleat and maintains media stability through varying airflows.
Rounded radial pleats, instead of
v-shape pleats, allow full usage of
media area.

High Wet-Strength Beverage Board Frame

The high wet-strength beverage board frame, the thickest board in the industry,
creates a stable and non-yielding media pack. Filter bypass is virtually eliminated
because the filter fits securely in the filter holding mechanism. The media is
bonded to the frame, ensuring that all of the air seen by the filter will be treated
by the filter. Diagonal support members are bonded to each pleat to maintain
pleat spacing and add stability to the pack through bridge-style engineering.
The 30/30 is guaranteed to 2.0 w.g. of pressure filter without failure. Costly
filter blowouts and compromising of HVAC system cleanliness is eliminated.
Diagonal support members, glued to
each pleat at its apex, help maintain
pleat stability and filter rigidity.

ISO 9001:2000 Certified Quality Control

Every 30/30 filter is identified on the frame with a unique manufacturing code that allows us to analyze every component of
construction, from raw materials to the point where the product is boxed for shipping. Filters are inspected for structural integrity
,so they are capable of operating in the harshest HVAC system conditions. The adhesion of diagonal support members to
pleat apexes is inspected, so pleat spacing is uniform to provide longer filter life. Each media lot is laboratory tested to confirm
consistent performance and individual filters are submitted from each manufacturing facility on a strict schedule for ASHRAE
52.2 testing in our world-class testing facility.
The standard of the industry, by Camfil Farr
Used in many systems as a prefilter, the 30/30 extends the life of final filters by capturing larger contaminant and thereby allowing
the final filters to concentrate on moving smaller particles, such as those that are respirable and can cause lung damage. The
30/30 is also an excellent choice when used as the only filter in a system to keep coils clean and maintain efficiency, and protect
building occupants from annoying contaminants such as pollen, plant spores, atmospheric dusts and other indoor air irritants.

Standard Magnehelic Pressure Gage has a
large, easy-to-read 4" dial.

Note: May be used with Hydrogen. When ordering a Buna-N diaphragm

pressures must be less than 35 psi.

MOUNTING. A single case

size is used for most models of
Magnehelic gages. They can
be flush or surface mounted
Flush ...Surface...or Pipe Mounted
with standard hardware supplied. With the optional A-610
Pipe Mounting Kit they may be conveniently installed on horizontal or vertical 114 2 pipe. Although calibrated for vertical position, many ranges above 1 may be used
at any angle by simply re-zeroing. However, for maximum accuracy, they must be
calibrated in the same position in which they are used. These characteristics make
Magnehelic gages ideal for both stationary and portable applications. A 4916 hole
is required for flush panel mounting. Complete mounting and connection fittings
plus instructions are furnished with each instrument.

OPTIONS AND ACCESSORIES

Transparent Overlays
Furnished in red and green to highlight and emphasize
critical pressures.

Adjustable Signal Flag

Integral with plastic gage cover. Available for most models except those with medium or high pressure construction. Can be ordered with gage or separate.

LED Setpoint Indicator

Bright red LED on right of scale shows when setpoint is
reached. Field adjustable from gage face, unit operates
on 12-24 VDC. Requires MP or HP style cover and
bezel.

VENT VALVES
In applications where pressure is continuous and the Magnehelic gage is connected by metal or plastic tubing which
cannot be easily removed, we suggest using Dwyer A-310A
vent valves to connect gage. Pressure can then be removed
to check or re-zero the gage.

Portable Units
Combine carrying case with any Magnehelic gage of standard range, except high pressure connection. Includes 9
ft. (2.7 m) of 316 I.D. rubber tubing, standhang bracket and
terminal tube with holder.

HIGH AND MEDIUM PRESSURE MODELS

Installation is similar to standard gages except that a 41316 hole
is needed for flush mounting. The medium pressure construction is rated for internal pressures up to 35 psig and the high
pressure up to 80 psig. Available for all models. Because of
larger case, the medium pressure and high pressure models
will not fit in a portable case size. Installation of the A-321 safety relief valve on standard Magnehelic gages often provides
adequate protection against infrequent overpressure.

Select the Dwyer Magnehelic gage for high accuracy guaranteed

within 2% of full scale and for the wide choice of 81 models available to suit
your needs precisely. Using Dwyer's simple, frictionless Magnehelic gage
movement, it quickly indicates low air or non-corrosive gas pressures either
positive, negative (vacuum) or differential. The design resists shock, vibration and over-pressures. No manometer fluid to evaporate, freeze or cause
toxic or leveling problems. It's inexpensive, too.
The Magnehelic gage is the industry standard to measure fan and blower pressures, filter resistance, air velocity, furnace draft, pressure drop
across orifice plates, liquid levels with bubbler systems and pressures in
fluid amplifier or fluidic systems. It also checks gas-air ratio controls and automatic valves, and monitors blood and respiratory pressures in medical care
equipment.

Red tipped pointer of heat treated aluminum

tubing is easy to see. It is rigidly mounted on
the helix shaft.
Pointer stops of molded rubber prevent
pointer over-travel without damage.

Silicone rubber diaphragm with integrally

molded O-ring is supported by front and rear
plates. It is locked and sealed in position with
a sealing plate and retaining ring. Diaphragm
motion is restricted to prevent damage due to
overpressures.

Wishbone assembly provides mounting for

helix, helix bearings and pointer shaft.
Jeweled bearings are shock-resistant mounted;
provide virtually friction-free motion for helix.
Motion damped with high viscosity silicone
fluid.

Calibrated range spring is flat spring steel.

Small amplitude of motion assures
consistency and long life. It reacts to pressure
on diaphragm. Live length adjustable for
calibration.

Zero adjustment screw is conveniently

located in the plastic cover, and is accessible
without removing cover. O-ring seal provides
pressure tightness.

Samarium Cobalt magnet mounted at one

end of range spring rotates helix without mechanical linkages.

AIR-FOIL CONTROL DAMPER
Extruded aluminum (6063T5) damper frame is not less than .080" (2.03mm) in thickness. Damper frame is 4" deep.

OPPOSED
ACTION

Blades are extruded aluminum (6063T5) profiles.

Blade seals are extruded EPDM. Frame seals are extruded silicone. Seals are secured in an integral slot within the

aluminum extrusions.
Bearings are composed of a Celcon inner bearing fixed to a 7/16" (11.11mm) aluminum hexagon blade pin, rotating

within a polycarbonate outer bearing inserted in the frame, resulting in no metal-to-metal or metal-to-plastic contact.
Linkage hardware is installed in the frame side and constructed of aluminum and corrosion-resistant, zinc-plated steel,

complete with cup-point trunnion screws for a slip-proof grip.

Dampers are designed for operation in temperatures ranging between -40F (-40C) and 212F (100C).
Leakage does not exceed 3 cfm/ft. (15.2 l/s/m2) against 1 (.25 kPa) w.g. differential static pressure.
Dampers are available with either opposed blade action or parallel blade action.
Dampers are made to size required without blanking off free area.
Dampers are available in two mounting types: i.e., "Installed in Duct" or "Flanged to Duct".
Installation of dampers must be in accordance with current manufacturers installation guidelines provided with each

shipment of TAMCO dampers. (Note that all technical information available on TAMCOs web site at www.tamco.ca
supersedes and takes precedence over all information contained within the printed catalog.)
Intermediate or tubular steel structural support is required to resist applied pressure loads for dampers that consist of
two or more sections in both height and width. (See TAMCO Aluminum Damper Installation Guidelines.)

" deducted for clearance from width & height dimensions unless otherwise specified

Note:
To reduce pressure drop, use Flanged to Duct type for sizes under
9 ft. (.83m2).
Suitable for operation in breathable air environments within stated
temperature range.
Dampers sized for duct openings exceeding 37" (953mm) in
height are equipped with a stiffener bar at mid-height to strengthen

Equipment Spin-Glas Board

Equipment Insulation

Description
Equipment Spin-Glas Board is a rigid board manufactured from
fine, rotary-process glass fibers bonded with a special
thermosetting resin.
Thermal and Acoustical Solution. Equipment Spin-Glas Board
can be used in a variety of applications that require good
thermal and acoustical efficiency in a minimal space.
Appliance and Equipment Applications. Because the glass
fibers in Equipment Spin-Glas Board are extremely fine, they
create an enormous number of minute air spaces, making the
insulation highly effective for sound absorption and thermal
properties.
These glass fibers are resistant to the effects of moisture, oil,
grease, and most acids. Because these fibers are highly resilient,
they resist settling, breakdown or sagging from vibration. They
yield readily to impact and protect facings from puncture or
tearing.
Equipment Spin-Glas Board provides neat, square corners for an
improved, finished appearance for equipment systems.
The inherent physical properties of Equipment Spin-Glas Board
assure ease of application. It can be readily cut with a knife and
secured with mechanical fasteners or adhesives.
Available Forms. See Equipment Spin-Glas Board Purchase
Guide, ESG-IS-210 for specific details.
Custom Fabrications. A Johns Manville Approved Fabricator
can develop and apply facings for airstream applications as
well as fabricate Equipment Spin-Glas Board to meet your
specific service conditions and performance requirements.

ACH550 Control Panel

The ACH550 Control Panel is a multifunction control panel with full graphic LCD display and multiple
language capability. The control panel can be connected to and detached from the ACH550 at any time.
The panel can be used to upload and copy parameters to other ACH550 drives.

LED Indicators
The green LED indicates that the power is on and the drive is operating normally. The red LED indicates
a fault. A blinking green LED indicates an alarm condition. A blinking red LED indicates a fault that
requires power to be cycled off and on to reset the drive.
Fault Indications
The ACH550 Control Panel can display over 20 alarm and fault messages. The last fault and previous
faults (1 to 9) are retained in memory. The last fault and previous faults (1 & 2) also record important
diagnostic information to assist in troubleshooting. Most faults can be reset by pressing the RESET key
(Soft Key 1).
Parameters
Application specific parameters are immediately accessible through a selection of start-up Assistants. A
complete list of parameters is also available grouped by function in approximately 33 menu groups. One
of the basic menu functions can be used to display the complete list of changed parameters.
Real Time Clock
The Operator Control Panel includes a real time clock which provides Day, Date and Time information,
displayed in a choice of formats. The real time clock has a 10 year battery back up and provides time and
date stamping of drive faults and other events. The clock is also used by the ACH550s internal timer
functions, providing an integral time clock for start/stop control as well
as other control operations.

Control Modes
When the HAND key is pressed, the drive starts and pressing the UP/DOWN keys can modify the
reference frequency. The HAND (keypad) control mode is indicated.
When the OFF key is pressed, the drive stops and the OFF control mode is indicated.
When the AUTO key is pressed, the AUTO control mode is indicated. The drive can be started and
stopped using whichever remote start/stop command has been configured, a contact closure applied to
the start/stop input, a serial communication command or a process feedback signal. In AUTO mode the
drive speed is typically controlled by the external speed reference input or by the PID controller.
If the HAND key is pressed while the drive is running in the AUTO control mode, the drive continues to
run without changing speed, but ceases to respond to external input or PID speed reference changes.
(Bumpless transfer) Pressing the UP/DOWN keys can modify the reference frequency.
If the AUTO key is pressed while the drive is running in the HAND control mode and an external start
command is present, the drive continues to run and follows the acceleration or deceleration control ramp
to the speed set by the external input or PID speed reference. (Bumpless transfer)

Note
Use of 1~ supply requires 50% derate of output current
and is applicable for 208 to 240 VAC operation only.
Follow local rules for cable size.

Low voltage control Use shielded cable

Low voltage or 115VAC
Use shielded cable

Follow local codes for cable size. To avoid electromagnetic interference, use separate metallic conduits
for input power wiring, motor wiring, control and communications wiring. Keep these four classes of wiring
separated in situations where the wiring is not enclosed in metallic conduit. Also, keep 115VAC control
wiring separated from low voltage control wiring and power wiring.
Use shielded cable for control wiring.
Ampacity is based on the use of 60 C rated power cable up to 100 Amps (75 C over 100 Amps).
Refer to the included tables for current ratings, fuse recommendations and maximum wire size capacities
and tightening torques for the terminals. The ACH550 is suitable for use on a circuit capable of delivering
not more than 100,000 RMS symmetrical amperes, 480 V maximum. The ACH550 has an electronic
motor protection feature that complies with the requirements of the National Electric Code (NEC). When
this feature is selected and properly adjusted. Additional overload protection is not required unless more
than one motor is connected to the drive or unless additional protection is required by applicable safety
regulations.
For CE installation requirements, see ABB publication CE-US-02 CE Council Directives and Variable
Speed Drives. Contact your local ABB representative for specific IEC installation instructions.
