createdbyAnneBogartandtheSITICo.sonecessaryforyoungartistslearningtocreateinourvisualculture.Youwill
loveexperiencingthisempoweringapproachtoactortraining.WewillusetheprinciplesofViewpoints,whichwillbe
experiencedbyallingroupexercises,tocreateimprovisations,travelingthroughprocesstoartisticproductina
meaningfulway.
ProfessorRichardE.HesshasbeentheChairoftheDepartmentofDramaattheUniversityofCincinnatiCollege
ConservatoryofMusic(CCM)since1994andisalifelongstudentofmovementbasedactortraininganddirecting.

ViewpointsTraining
TheViewpointsisatechniqueofimprovisationwhichgrewoutofthepostmoderndanceworld.Itwasfirstarticulated
bychoreographerMaryOverliewhobrokedownthetwodominantissuesperformersdealwithtimeandspaceinto
sixcategories.ShecalledherapproachTheSixViewpoints.Sincethattime,AnneBogartandtheSITICompanyhave
expandedhernotionsandadaptedthemforactors.TheNineViewpointsallowsagroupofactorstofunctiontogether
spontaneouslyandintuitivelyandtogeneratebold,theatricalworkquickly.Itdevelopsflexibility,articulation,and
strengthinmovementandspeaking,andmakesensembleplayingareality.
