ACQUISITION OF LIBRARY MATERIALS FOR THE LOZANO LIB

PURPOSE
The proposal was recommended because of the need to upgrade
library materials in the Lozano Hall of the University of the Philippines
Visayas. The purpose of this plan is to enrich the Lozano Library and facilitate
the learning of College of Management students by acquiring more books for
the General Education section and Management section of the library. The
proponents of this proposal will achieve this plan by initiating a book drive in
order to HOW WILL THIS BE DONE
BACKGROUND
The University of the Philippines is the countrys national university
that only accepts students who meet their high standards. However, not all
students have the financial means to acquire the learning materials needed
in their studies. The library, will then become their primary source of
information.
The university is a government-funded institution, and there is not
enough budget to upgrade and maintain the facilities and library books.
Many materials in the Lozano library are dated, some authors have already
released newer editions which are not present in the place. There are also
books, which the instructors recommend as references for their courses that
can only be found in the Miag-ao campus library.
One of the universitys core tenets is that the financial capacity of the
students should not be a hindrance to their education. Such students are
dependent on the library to provide them with information relevant to their
lessons. The quality of the reading materials must also be assessed since
books hinders the students capacity to learn certain topic. By not upgrading
the volumes or editions stored there, it faces the risk of becoming outdated
and therefore, useless to the student population.
CONSEQUENCES IF THIS IS NOT DONE
BENEFITS OF THE PROPOSAL
The proposal will provide a big help to students by granting them
greater access to information needed in their respective degree programs. It
will aid them in locating reliable sources of data for occasions where
factuality and validity are imperative. It will give a higher book to student
ratio which will allow more people to simultaneously acquire a volume
written by an author. It also will eliminate the need for some students to
travel to the Miag-ao campus Main Library for reference materials.

To judge the success or failure of this venture, the proponents of this
proposal plan is to conduct a survey to know the perception of students of
the current status of the Lozano Library. The results of the survey could be
also helpful in determining the level of satisfaction the library provides. It
