Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will be able: to understand Animals Genetic
Resources their Conservation and Utilization.
Syllabus
Animal Genetic Resources of different species of animals: characteristics, economic merits , importance
for genetic improvement and sustainable agriculture, reasons for being endangered, national and global
conservation status for conservation, strategies for conservation, methods of conservation, AnGR
utilization methods, successful cases/models of conservation around world, prerequisites for conservation,
genome sequencing and banking, gene isolation, using markers, and use of cloned genes in improving
productivity of the animal genetic resources.
