1) Application and $45 Application Fee: Apply using a paper graduate school application or the on-line application. Each
application type is located on the EMU Graduate School website
Only money orders or a checks from US affiliated banks are accepted. Make money orders and checks payable to Eastern Michigan

University (Do not send cash or postal orders).
2) Educational Credentials: ALL international (non-US) post-secondary/college/university transcripts, international marksheets,
international academic records, degree certificates, provisional certificates, etc. are required to be evaluated by
Educational Perspectives (EP) using the detailed report before credentials are accepted by EMU. Please visit
http://edperspective.org/emich, then; select your country from the drop-down menu and follow the instructions to order and
evaluation. Do not send post-secondary documents to EMU; they cannot be returned and become property of EMU. The
evaluation result will be sent from EP directly to EMU. All 2-4 weeks for completion. RUSH service is available.
Note: Students admitted as Conditional Seniors are required to update their final transcript through EP at a reduced rate.
3) English Proficiency: an official test score report sent directly to EMU from one of the following English Proficiency Testing
Agencies, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Test System (IELTS), the Michigan
English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) or the Pearsons Test of English (PTE). Do not send student score reports,
faxes or photocopies of your English Proficiency Test results to EMU as they are not accepted for completing your application.
4) Passports and VISAs: EMU is required to know your country of birth, country of citizenship and immigration status
- F1/J1 Applicants: submit copies of ALL Passports and VISAs along with your EMU Financial Statement of Responsibility
- Permanent Residents (PR): Submit a copy of your Green Card/Permanent Residence Card and Passport
- H4 and other VISA Applicants: Submit a copy of your Passport, your VISA, your primarys VISA and letter from employer
5) Financial Statement of Responsibility and Financial Affidavit of Support: must be signed and delivered in original form

6) Proxy/Release: required for students who request authorization to release admission information to another person.

8) Additional Graduate Application Requirements and Test Scores: visit your programs website or contact your department.
- Department Application: some EMU graduate programs require an additional department application
- Letters of Recommendation: many Graduate Programs require 2-3 letters of recommendation
- GRE/GMAT: visit your programs website or contact your department for GRE/GMAT requirements
- English Proficiency: some programs require higher than the minimum English score; check your programs website for specifics
- Resume/Curriculum Vitae: visit your programs website for resume/curriculum vitae requirements
- Portfolio (optional): for selected majors (ie. Fine Arts, Photography), send portfolio directly to your department
Applications remain incomplete until all necessary requirements are received. Please check with your department for any
supplemental application requirements. The submission of unofficial documents does not accelerate the admissions process.

Misrepresentation of facts may be cause for refusal of admission, cancellation of admission, or suspension, or dismissal from
Eastern Michigan University if discovered subsequently. Students must fill out their own application materials, not a third
