The human body is organised in

the following way:
Cell
Tissue
Organ
System
Human

Basic unit of all living things.

A group of similar cells that performs the same work.
Different tissues that are grouped together to
perform a particular kind of work.
A few organs that work together to perform a certain
function in a life process.
Made up of many systems.

Cell
The human body is made up of various cells that carry
out specific functions in the body.
Each type of cell carries out a special function.
Different types of cells have different structures.

Cell
Nerve cells receive and
transmit nerve impulses
between the sense
organs and the brain.

Reproductive
cells take part in
fertilisation to
reproduce young
for the next
generation.

Bone cells
support and
protect organs.
Red blood cells transport
oxygen in the body.

Organs in
system
Mouth, oesophagus,

Function
Break up food into
simpler forms so that it
is more easily absorbed
by the body.

Organs in
system
All types of
muscles and

Organs in
system
Kidney, skin,
liver, urinary
bladder, lungs

Teachers Resource Kit Science Form 1

Function
Remove excretory
waste such as urea
from the body.

Pearson Malaysia Sdn Bhd

Excretory system kidney

Our blood passes through the
kidneys 300 times a day.
The nephrons clean all your
blood in 45 minutes.
Every day the nephrons send
about six cups of urine to the
bladder.

pores

sweat gland

Sweat is excreted through the pores in our skin.

Sweat is a mixture of three metabolic waste:
water, salt and urea.
Sweating gives a cooling effect to the
body..

Excretory system- lungs

Carbon dioxide and water vapour

are produced as waste products.

Excretory system- liver

The liver helps to get rid of
unwanted waste in the body.
It changes toxic ammonia,
which is a poisonous gas into
urea, a harmless fluid.

Male reproductive system

The male contributes to reproduction by
producing sperms.
The sperm fertilises the egg in the
female body.
The fertilised egg (zygote) gradually
develops into a foetus, and later born as
a child.
