Noli Me Tangere (Play)

A theatre play of Noli Me Tangere was held at _____. Noli Me Tangere is a Spanish-language
novel written by Jose Rizal that is credited with the awakening of nationalism among the Filipinos
of Rizals time. The play was directed by ____, choreographed by___ and the music was
manipulated by ____.
Noli Me Tangere, revolves around Crisostomo Ibarra who, after a seven-stay in Europe to study,
comes home to his town San Diego, brimming with the desire to contribute to the development of
his townsmen. Specifically, he was a reformist who aims to make education accessible tommost
ofnthe poeple. His idealism cannot bear fruit because of insidious forces bent on destroying him.
Ibarra knew that hisnfather, Don Rafael had been involve in a conflict with Padre Damaso, that
eventually causes his humiliation and death. It is not omly power that the friar managed, he also
used power to seduce the motjer of Maria Clara, Ibarras sweetheart. Padre Salvi, is Ibarras another
enemy who lusts of Maria Clara, and the one that causes Ibarras deathreat at the inaugaration
ceremonies for the school that Ibarra planned. But Ibarra was accused by Padre Salvi of being
subversive and was arrested and imprisoned. Eventually, he was rescued by Elias, whose life
Ibarra has saved in the past. Then suddenly, Ibarras letter to Maria Clara was produced and used as
evidence against him. Ibarra, leaving the country had their flight on a boat but was spotted by the
guards. Maria Clara heard a shot, and knew that Ibarra was killed.
They didnt start on time. The pamphlet they gave us has errors. Technical errors on the echoing of
microphone it hurts in the ears. Not clearly pronouncing the words of dialect they are using.
On the play, the characters did not stay on post. They were coming out from the backstage instead
of surprising us on the start of the play. Crisostomo Ibarra did played his role well. The character
of Victorina did well in her facal expressions and acting especially in introducing Linares. The
expressions were (dry, down to earth, serious, poorly presented, fantastic). Maria Clara in the play
did characterized the portrait of an ideal woman she had a nice voice. She did well in her acting
but her voice wasnt clear. Sisa performed and act well I was carried away by her acting there was
a little bit technicality about her costume but she did well. The clarity of the actors and actresses
voices are (evident, not evident) on the matching support of the right timing of the effects. (and the
multipurpose stage set up.) The characters are unidentifiable. I love the scene where Ibarra handed
a knife to Padre Damaso and the scene of Dona Consolacion and Alperes where they had an
argument it gave me a suspense and thrill feeling. The background music was louder than the
actors voice. The play seemed to be not continous.
The characters (didnt, did) seem to be listening and reacting truthfully to each other and it doesnt
seemed to be realistic.
The creativity of the set is (quite common, unpleasing, simple, nothing unique to stand out)
because It doesnt show an old age of spanish era. There is no enough bakgroud in every scene.
The colors of the stage is (dry, lively, attracting to the eyes, seems boring, not entertaining). A
(vintage, modern) feeling communicates me in the play. The set didnt reflect to the colonial Phils
of 1880. Maria Clara, Crisostomo Ibarra (did, didnt) brought their characters to life with such

passion that for a moment, we, the audience felt that we have gone back to the spanish era.
Everything (was, wasnt) meticulously prepared - the costumes, music and background of each
scene. The technicalities werent all well thought and put up. The lights had a big effect on the play
because you cannot really feel the suspense, sorrow, and happiness being depicted by the story.

Overall, the movie was ... Ill rate the stage play with a percentage of (__) because ___.
