The remaining time for cabin services (catering + cleaning)
is the bottle neck, if the A380 is served only with 2 bridges

To keep
short turn around time
servicing of each level
with separate

is a MUST !!!

A380 TOWING ISSUES

Towbarless Tractor
towing of empty dead aircraft should be possible

dead aircraft in the meaning of:

no active body gear steering
no hydraulic power
no electric power
But : for towing of heavy A380
the Body Wheel Steering has to be powered
9 APU (90 KVA) running (with mechanic on board)

9 or GPU running on Towbarless Tractor

A380 TOWING ISSUES

Towbarless Tractor
Approval from Airbus
for Towbarless Towing Vehicle

Airbus asks for same Qualification Process

as for other Airbus Aircraft types
Very cost and time consuming
For new tractor, all AI Aircraft types have to be tested
Airbus refuses simplified procedure (like Boeing)

NEXT STEP

Ramp Services & Equipment working group to

draft functional specifications for an Upper Deck
Loader

Next meeting: SEP 14-16, 2004 in Montreal

Inputs from Airlines, GSE Manufacturers and

Service Providers are required

PROPOSED ACTIONS

IGHC/17 to endorse the finalised work

items for subsequent approval by the IATA
Airport Services Committee

Extend the Rampsg mandate in order to

continue the work programme shown at
Agenda item 8.3
