Audience

This manual is written for system administrators, operators, and field


service engineers who need to find the current firmware version and
related information for Quantum products.

Purpose

This document describes how you can find the Firmware versions for
particular Quantum products. For your convenience, all products are
presented alphabetically. It is useful for customers and service engineers
who need to find the current Firmware version to open a Service Request
or begin diagnosing a problem.

Chapter 1

Quantum Products

This chapter describes how to find the firmware and software levels for
Quantum hardware and software products. The following provides an
alphabetical list of Quantum products.

7100, ACL 2640, and ACL 4/52 Libraries


Use the following method to find the latest software version for both the
7100 and the 5/52 Libraries.
1 Before you can determine any information about these libraries, you
must install the Diagnostic Software Program (DSP):

Note:

The DSP requires approximately 380K of hard disk space.

1 Use the instructions provided in Chapter 1 of the Quantum ATL 7100


Series Automated Tape Library Diagnostic Software Users Manual,
(6241104-02) to access the DPS Main Menu screen.

2 Click the Status pull-down menu.

3 Click System Info and click Enter to display the information in a


Return Status Window.
The display shows the current firmware revision of the library.

AMASS

AMASS
Use the following method to find the latest software version for AMASS.
From the command line, type: /usr/amass/bin/amassstat -v
The system response resembles the following:
5.3.3 (rev 37)
The response indicates that software version 5.3.3 revision 37 is running
on this system.

AML 2/E/J
There are no remote identification options, no physical listings, and no
paths from the Operator Panel for finding the library and drive firmware
versions. To obtain this information, contact Quantum service.

DAT 240/432/864
This topic describes how to find the firmware level of a DAT 240/432/
864 autoloader.
Use this procedure to access the LCD display.
1 Make sure there is no magazine installed in the autoloader.
2 Press and hold the Select button for five seconds.

Data Manager

3 Use the Select button to access the VERSION MENU.


4 Use the Select button to access the autoloader firmware level.

Use the following method to find the latest software version for Data
Manager.
From the command line, type: /etc/dm/usr/utils/dm_version
The system response resembles the following:

DPM5500

DPM5500
Use the following method to find the latest software version for the
DPM5500.
1 On the host computer, open the Internet browser software.
2 In the Address field, type https://IPaddress/where IPaddress is the IP
address for the DX-Series system.
Note:

This IP address uses https, not the common http and there is
also a special port (8098) that must be used. This address must
be used every time the web pages are accessed.

The Log In page displays.


3 Enter the Username and password.
The default user name is administrator and the default password is
Quantum-DPM. The password is case-sensitive.
The Welcome screen displays.

4 Click the System Configuration menu option (third from the left) at
the top of the screen.
The System Configuration screen displays.

5 Click Identification.

6 From the Software Version field, record the product software


version (1.00.P2).

DX30 and DX100


The following describes where to find the firmware and software
versions for a DX30 or a, DX100 system, using remote identification.
You can access the version numbers for a DX30 and a DX100 through the
DX-Series Web pages. This procedure describes how you can find this
information.
1 On the host computer, open the Internet browser software.
2 In the Address field, type http://IPaddress/ where IPaddress is the IP
address for the DX-Series system.
The Log In page displays.

3 Click either Monitor or Administrator and specify the password


(password by default).
4 Click Login.
The Home page displays, displaying the graphical overview by
default.

DX3000 and DX5000

DX3000 and DX5000


The following describes where to find the firmware and software
versions for a DX3000 or a DX5000 system. through remote identification.
You can access the version numbers for a DX3000 and a DX5000 through
the DX3000 and DX5000 Web pages. This procedure describes how you
can find this information.
1 On the host computer, open the Internet browser software.
2 In the Address field, type http://IPaddress/ where IPaddress is the IP
address for the DX3000 or DX5000 system.
The Log In page displays.

You can access the version numbers for a DXi3500 and a DXi5000 through

can find this information.
1 On the host computer, open the Internet browser software.

Note:

The default IP address is 10.1.1.1 with a netmask of


255.255.255.0 for port 1 and 10.0.1.0 with a netmask of
255.255.0.0 for port 2.

3 Click either Monitor or Administrator and specify the password


(password by default). The password is case-sensitive.

Note:

To scroll within the FastStor 1 Operator Panel, use the buttons


to the left of the display.

1 From the Main Menu, scroll to View Data and click Select.
When you select this menu, the loader remains in its ready state.
2 From the View Data menu, scroll to FastStor 1 info and click Select.
3 From the FastStor 1 info menu, scroll to Loader FW revision and
click Select.
The library firmware version displays (for example, 0169D0000).

Use this procedure to find the drive firmware levels.

Note:

To scroll within the FastStor 1 Operator Panel, use the buttons


to the left of the display.

1 From the Main Menu, scroll to View Data and click Select.
When you select this menu, the loader remains in its ready state.
2 From the View Data menu, scroll to Drive info and click Select.
3 From the FastStor 1 info menu, scroll to Drive FW revision and click
Select.
The library firmware version displays (for example, 0201D0000).

FastStor 2: LTO-1, LTO-2, and SDLT 320


The following describes where to find the firmware and software version
for a FastStor 2 library with either LTO-1, LTO-2, or SDLT 320 drives.

Use this procedure to display the Autoloader, SCSI Controller and the
Autoloader Robotics Controller, which are all the same firmware version.
The revision information is displayed on the bottom line of the LCD
display in the following sequence: Drive, Autoloader, SCSI Controller,
and Autoloader Robotics Controller.
1 From the Home Screen or Main Menu, press + or - until Information
appears on the top line of the LCD screen.
2 Press Enter to access the available options.
3 Press + or - until the Firmware Rev message appears on the LCD
screen.
The LCD screen displays the revision the firmware currently
installed within the autoloader.

for a FastStor 2 library with either LTO-3 or SDLT 600 drives.

Remote Identification

Logon the Remote Management Unit (RMU). The library firmware
version is the fourth item (Controller Firmware Revision 0 20) in the
Autoloader Information column as in figure 5. To access the library
firmware version from any page of the RMU, click Information and then
Autoloader.

Logon the RMU and click Information and then Drive. The drive
firmware version is the fifth item (Firmware Revision 1E1E) in the Drive
Information column as in figure 6 on page 19.

The following describes where to find the firmware and software
versions for a Scalar i500 library.

Physical Location

You can find the library (device) and drive firmware levels from the
shipping levels in figure 19 on page 76.

Note:

If your product is not new, go to the Operator Panel.

Scalar i2000 Libraries


Use this procedure to find the firmware and software versions for a Scalar
i2000k library.

Note:

There is no physical listing of the firmware version.

Note:

The Operator Panel view is the previously-described Scalar


i2000 Library Management Console view.

Because remote monitoring and AMC software are integrated into the
standard library firmware for the Scalar i2000, you only need to use this
procedure to locate firmware versions on the Scalar i2000 Library
Management Console.
1 Logon the Scalar i2000 Library Management Console.

2 Choose Help > About.

If you are running a StorNext File System prior to Version 2.0 or a


StorNext FX client prior to Version 2.0, access the Windows Command
Prompt program and type:
C:/snfs/bin/cvversions
If you are running a StorNext File System Version 2.0 or later, or a
StorNext FX client Version 2.0 or later, access the Windows Command

If you have a StorNext FX Windows client, you can use the StorNext GUI
to find the current software version for StorNext FX.
1 From the Windows main screen, click Start > Programs > StorNext
File System > Version Information.
The StorNext File System Subsystem Versions pop-up screen
displays.

2 Record the software version number (3.0.0 Build 18) from the Client
Revision field.
Note:

There is no UNIX-based StorNext GUI for viewing the current


software version.

ValueLoader.
1 From the Home screen or main menu, click [+] or [-] until
Information appears on the top line of the LCD screen.
2 Click Enter to access the available options.
3 Click [+] or [-] until Firmware Rev appears on the LCD screen.
The LCD screen displays the revision of the firmware currently
installed in the ValueLoader.
4 Click Cancel when finished.
