I also did SWOT analysis of the company. In SWOT analysis I have analyzed that
how the weaknesses of SBL can be overcome by using different methods or
ways feasible to the company. I did the internship in the Marketing Department of
SBL. My supervisor which helped me out while doing my internship was Mr.
Zeeshan Ghazanfar (Manager). I have assigned multiple duties during my
internship like assemble personnel and benefits files, file paperwork into
confidential database, work with hiring managers, enter data into spreadsheets
or databases and participate in Marketing team and all staff meetings. In the
analysis part, I have analyzed some Marketing strategies which were applicable

University of Gujrat makes internship compulsory for all students of MBA
programmers. All the students have to do their internship of Six week in any
business organizations so that they familiarized with organizational environment
& after Six week internship all the students are directed to submit their internship
report. So I complete my internship in Sheikh Brother lubricants Ali Pur Chatha
branch from 16-8-2013 to 26-9-2013. The main Internship purpose is to serve
the purpose of acquiring the students with the practices of knowledge of the
discipline of Organization administration. In that period of time I do my best to
learn more things about the Organization sector.
.5.1.1 Background of study
Its compulsory for all student of MBA to conduct Six week internship in business
organization to use their knowledge in practical fields.
This internship report is about Sheikh brother lubricants .Sheikh brother
lubricants is developed in 1949 and since , it is a large company and provide a
large range of product and services to its customer.
5.1.2 Purpose
The main purpose of study is that the student collects all relevant information to
prepare their internship report. The purpose of internship is that the students
understand how the theoretical knowledge can be applied in the practical

COMPANY OVERVIEW
Brief description of the organization
Sheikh Brothers Lubricants is the manufacturer of all types of High Grade
Lubricating Oils & Greases, having more than 20 years establishment and are
registered with Chamber Of Commerce (Govt. of Pakistan). Their modern
blending plant situated at Ali Pur Chattha Gujranwala, equipped with full fledged
Laboratory equipments for carrying out all required tests. SBL wants to expand
its scope of business from local to global operations through strong human,
information and financial resources. To make SBL an organization having a broad
product mix, serving different segments of the automotive industry world-wide.
They are also in a position to blend any quantity of Lubricating Oils as they have
various sizes of blending kettles. Production capacity per month in normal
working condition 15000 barrels. The covered area of the plant is 15,000 Sq. ft.
and total area is 20,000 sq. meters. Besides the fully equipped plant, they are
supported by well trained and experienced team of experts in the field of
manufacturing Lubricants, who are extremely dedicated and professional. Being
a leader in re-refining of all types of used Lubricating Oils, with establishment of
their unit in 1982, having conventional Acid Clay process. Since the waste of this
process has no ideal & safe disposal, they have over a period of time developed
and changed over to High Temperature High Vacuum Distillation unit.
Not only the quality of the product matches absolutely with the virgin oil

Description of Departments
I decided to select the Marketing department of Sheikh Brothers Lubricants. In
this company this department is governed by manager, so Marketing manager
was the head of the marketing department. In this company marketing manager
Mr. Zeeshan Ghazanfar was managing the marketing department. During the job
I found him a person who is highly dedicated towards his work.
A team consisting of the assistants and the employees are working under the
marketing Manager. As a head of marketing department he is always ready to
address the problems arises with the employees and is very keen to formulate a
desirable solution to resolve such problems. He is a real professional and also a
team person who knows how to work in a group and how to motivate others to
achieve these goals. So he was a manager as well as a motivator of the
employees which enhances effectiveness of the workforce in the company.

INTERNAL POTENCY
Sheikh Brothers Lubricants is producing fine quality lubricants since its inception.
Their main strength which makes them different from the other companies in the
same industry is their policy of not compromising on quality at any cost. Their
main focus is to provide excellent quality lubricants to their customers at
comparatively lower cost. They also tried to give some offers along with their
products to attract new bunch of customers other than their potential customers.
They also charges low prices as compared to other companies which gives them
comparative edge in this saturated sector. They are currently been a pioneer in
re-refining oil which gave them a first mover advantage in the market.
Sheikh Brothers Lubricants is a leading industrial and automotive lubricants
manufacturer and blender in Pakistan. They are producing large range of
lubricants at reasonable prices which gives them competitive edge in the market.
Their company is located in a larger area and they also have a better
manufacturing technology which results in enhances their level of production.
They are capable of producing an adequate amount of lubricants which satisfies
the needs of the whole region.
The another edge this company have is their strong supply chain throughout
Pakistan which makes their access to almost every part of Pakistan and they are

INTERNAL DEFICIENCIES
Sheikh Brothers Lubricants have some weaknesses which they should identify
and also should try to formulate strategies to eliminate these weaknesses. One
of the main weakness which can become the main reason of the downfall of the
company is their high dependence on imported crude oil accounting for over
80% of the consumption could pose an energy threat to the country anytime in
the future. In this sense, such high dependence could amount to a strategic
disadvantage. They should formulate an effective strategy to overcome such
dangerous issue.
Another problem which is somehow or another related to the above issue is lack
of crude storage makes the country and in some circumstances the oil
companies vulnerable to oil shocks. If the situation reaches to that instinct then
the come back of the company can become very difficult. Low investment
specially in the research and development department can also proves to be a
great problem for the company in the long run. Research and Development
department of any company plays a crucial role in the level of production and
performance of employees. It should be addressed through proper planning and
implementation.
The production method of SBL is not scientific. Their operations related to
production are not according to the predefined procedures. Most of the
employees just doing the certain tasks on the basis of their personal knowledge
and experiences. They should adopt the procedure based on set patterns of
production
in order to improves their sales. Another issue that should be addressed by SBL
is that they are using a relatively backward technology in the manufacturing of
lubricants. It has been observed that technological backward leading to poor
quality lubricant oil. It should be strictly considered by the top management of the
company.

EXTERNAL TRENDS
Sheikh Brothers Lubricants have some opportunities or trends which they should
capitalize on to increase their sales in the market.
One of the fine opportunities for SBL can be if they adopt the forward and
backward integration in their petroleum products. This can helps then in
producing variety of products with the limited resources and the ideal condition.
Another point of consideration for SBL can be that natural gas has the potential
to be the fuel of the future with demand outpacing supply. If they tends to operate
their units on gas than their will be greater chances of expansion of the company
within this highly saturated industry.
SBL has not fully explore the rural markets. They should fully explore the rural
markets for their increase in sales because most of the population of Pakistan
lives in rural areas and it can be a great source for their improves sales. Another
point that should be noticed by SBL can be growth in domestic market of
lubricant industry due to the increase in income level of middle class people. If
SBL succeeded in producing the products according to their requirements than
their can be rapid expansion of sales of the company.
The increase in number of vehicles due to development of infrastructure by
government can also be considered a big opportunity for SBL in the lubricants.
The number of vehicles now a day is increasing day by day and it will definitely
increase the usage of lubricants. This trend will positively affect the sales of SBL.

c) Communication skills
Sheikh brother lubricants during my internship period improves my
communication skills. Because during my internship period I worked with
national bank staff and my skill to deal with customer improve as deal with
them;
Always greet with customer pleasantly. Be patient when deal them and try
to provide them provide all information.

MAIN PROBLEMS
Some of the problems of Sheikh Brothers Lubricants are as follows:
Government instability is also a major problem when it comes to industrial sector
of Pakistan. Lack of skilled labor is also a big problem in the expansion of the
company. Lack of employee motivation is also a major problem specifically in
SBL. This can become a crucial obstacle towards development of this company.
Due to rapid increase in the number of competitors of the same sector SBL is
facing a big problem in maximizing its effectiveness.

RECOMMENDATION
Some of the solutions of the problem which are stated above are as follows:
There should be proper shades and proper sitting arrangements at the filling
stations because people who come for oil changing and car washing face
difficulties in this regard.

I have realized that SBL is performing very well since its inception. It is quite
difficult to give suggestion to improve the working conditions of SBL. In hiring
process bank should keep in mind only hire people on the basis of merit,
experience and qualification must consider.Proper help desk maintain in
company which also provide information to customer for all problems and they
give prompt reply for any confusion which customer feel.
No favoritism and nepotism in banking hours. Any employees weather in hire
and low post involved in favoritism and nepotism should be removed on spot. To
provide all internee proper information in details its not matter rather they

LEARNING OUTCOMES
The main purpose of internship is to get a practical experience in the market and
to get some practical knowledge. Usually the period of internship is short but we
can learn a lot from this period. This was first time in my life when I was doing
some reasonable and practical tasks. A lot of learning and achievements I have
gotten from the Marketing staff like:
I learnt from this short period of job is punctuality. I learnt from this how to be in
time on your job. I also learnt the art of dressing, because in practical
environment professional dressing matters a lot. By seeing my seniors and
colleagues I start to copy them in dressing. It was a big achievement for me, that
I learn how to do the work in team and group of people.

There are many things or situations which I have been come across during my
internship. Some of them were really fascinating and worth willing to do while the
others were just boring or a dead elements of job for me. For example during my
internship I like the aggressive and dedicated approach of my manager towards
work.
He was very much serious in meeting the deadlines of the projects assigned to
him and was very professional in achieving those tasks. I have learnt some
positive attitude towards work from my manager which I would be trying to carry
out in my future. I also liked the attitude of management of Sheikh brother
lubricants with their subordinates. They were very supportive to the problems and
queries of staff and always tried to entertain them. But the thing I disliked the
most is the expectation of upper management from the lower management staff.
Their expectations from the lower management staff were too high and as a
result they were always dissatisfied from their subordinates which were the main
cause of de motivation among most of the employees.

How efficiently did you apply the theoretical knowledge gleaned from
your
courses
to
the
practical
situations
confronted
during
internship?
For doing any type of job a number of skills and abilities are necessary which are
mostly taught in our courses and the instructor tries to develop them during
classes. Like in the finance field a man should have the ability to making and
analyze any type of the account, can operate Microsoft office, long term writing
capacity and proper dressing etc.
In Marketing field a man should be able to present the pros and corns of their
products to the customers, should be a good negotiator, should be a attractive
communicator and should know the marketing strategies, ability to enforce and
agree the customer to purchase our product by presenting the characteristics of
the products. Same like these I did the job in the Human Resource department
and following are some of the skills which were needed and acquired just due to
my job:
The first and necessary skill for the marketing Manager job is the communication
power. The communication power should be very strong. A marketing officer
should have the strong presentation power, so that he can present any topic
against his executives. The ability to perform Microsoft power point so that one
can make the slides of ones presentation. Marketing
an orderly approach.
Organized files, strong time management skills and personal efficiency are key to
the marketing function.
