Thanks to the grace and the gift that has been given by
God Almighty . On the ease of his . The paper , entitled
"General Structure" can be resolved.
With the completion of this paper , may be useful for the
readers , especially the younger generation to learn more about
the kinds of text which are included in the general structure .
Given the finalization of this paper , many people who
have helped both moral and material , directly or indirectly . On
this occasion , thanks to those who have helped in the
completion of this paper . As the saying goes , " There is no
ivory that is not cracked " as well as papers that have been
completed with all the shortcomings and advantages . Criticism
and constructive suggestions from readers are encouraged to
support and make this paper approached perfection .

A. Narrative text
Narrative Text is any report of connected events, actual or imaginary,
presented in a sequence of written or spoken words, and/or in a sequence of
(moving) pictures.
Purpose of narrative text are: To amuse, entertain and to deal with actual or
vicarious experience in different ways; Adventure, mystery, science fiction,
fantasy, historical fiction, contemporary fiction, dilemma stories, dialogue,
myths, legends, fairy tales, fables.
Generic structure: orientation (pengenalan), complication
(munculnyamasalah), resolution (memecahkanmasalah), coda (hikmah).

Example
THE LEGEND OF TOBA LAKE
Once upon time, there was a handsome man. His name was Batara Guru
Sahala. He liked fishing. One day, he caught a fish. He was surprised to find out
that the fish could talk. The fish begged him to set it free.
Batara Guru could not bear it. He made the fish free. As soon as it was free,
the fish changed into a very beautiful woman. She attracted Batara Guru so
much. He felt in love with that fish-woman. The woman wanted to marry with
him and said that Batara Guru had to keep the secret which she had been a fish.
Batara Guru aggreed and promised that he would never tell anybody about it.
They were married happily. They had two daughters. One day Batara Guru
got very angry with his daughter. He could not control his mad. He shouted
angrily and got the word of fish to his daughters. The daughters were crying.
They found their mother and talked her about it.
The mother was very annoyed. Batara Guru broke his promise. The mother
was shouting angrily. Then the earth began to shake. Volcanoes started to erupt.
The earth formed a very big hole. People believed that the big hole became a
lake. Then this lake is known as Toba lake.

B. Descriptive text
Descriptive text is a text that describes the features of someone, something,
or a certain place.
Generic Structure :
Identifications : identifies phenomenon to be described.
Description : describes parts qualities, characteristics.
Significant Lexicogrammatical Features :
Focus on particular Participant.
Use of Attributive and Identifying Processes.
Frequent use of Epithets and Classifiers in nominal groups.
Use of simple present tense.

Example 1
I live with my mother. She is a the best woman I have ever known.
She is not tall but not short, and she has long straight hair. Its colour is
brown. Her eyes are like honey and. She has bright skin. It is light brown. I her
thirties, her wightis 50 kg.
My mother is a very good person. Everybody admits that she is lovely,
friendly, and patient. She love her family very much. She loves me more than
anything.
I love my mother. She makes me go home earlier. She cook delicious
food. I never eat at a restaurant, because my mother always prepares the meal.

Example 2
Borobudur is well-known all over the world. Its construction is influenced by
the Gupta architecture of India. The temple is constructed on a hill 46 m high
and consist of eight step like stone terrace. The first five terrace are square and
surrounded by walls adorned with Budist sculpture in bas-relief. The upper
three are circular. Each of them is with a circle of bell shape-stupa. The entire
adifice is crowned by a large stupa at the centre at the centre of the top circle.
The way to the summit extends through some 4.8 km of passage and starways.
The design of borobudur which symbolizes the structure of universe influences
temples at Angkor, Cambodia.

C. Explanation
Definition and purpose
Explanation is a text which tells processes relating to forming of natural,
social, scientific and cultural phenomena. Explanation text is to say why and
how of the forming of the phenomena. It is often found in science, geography
and history text box.
Generic structure
1. General stetement : stating the phenomena issues which are to be
explained
2. Sequenced explanation : stating a series of steps which explain the
phenomena.

D. Produce text
Procedure text is a text that is designed to describe how something is
achieved through a sequence of actions or steps. It explains how people perform
different processes in a sequence of steps. This text uses simple present tense,
often imperative sentences. It also uses the temporal conjunction such as first,
second, then, next, finally, etc.
Purpose of a Procedure Text :An anticipated outcome that is intended or that
guides your planned actions. A particular course of action intended to achieve a
result. Or To help us do a task or make something. They can be a set of
instructions or directions.

Language Features of Procedure Text

In the Procedure Text, we use
SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE. And:
Use of imperatives (e.g.: cut, dont mix)
Use of action verbs (e.g.: turn, put, mix)
Use of connectives (e.g. : first, then, finally, )

Use of adverbial phrases (e.g. : for five minutes, 2 centimeters from the top)

Generic Structure of Procedure

Goal : It is containt the purpose of the text. (e.g : How to make spagheti)
Material or Ingredient : it is containt of the materials that used in the
process. (e.g : the material to cook omelette are egg, onion, vegetable oil,
etc)
Step : it is containt of the steps to make something in the goal. (e.g : first,
wash the tomatoes, onion, ...., second cut the onions becomes slice. . . )

E. Announcement
Announcement is something said, written, or printed to make known what
has happened or (more often) what will happen.
Generic structure :
1. The title or type of event
2. Date or time, place
3. Contact person
