(DAWN BREAD)

A family oriented company located at kot lakhpat committed to providing Pakistanis nutritious
and superior quality bread products. The head of this branch was Fida. Dawn bread has launched
its sub brands such as bread and beyond. They are expanding their business towards frozen food.
We visited Dawn Bread factory and conducted interviews not only with the sales person but also
with the manager Moin Shahzad. We went in the delivery truck. The manager said that he has
divided Lahore in four sectors and the chain of command was as follows:
Area Sale Manager
Sale Force
Sale Man
Helper
Driver
Loader
Dawn bread has 80% of self-owned trucks and rest of the 20% they get from outside. Salary of
helper was approximately 10 to 12 thousand for those who covered large area of Lahore and
around 9600 Rs. for those who covered a small region. On the other hand the salary of sale man
was 15 thousand plus the commission. And the salary of driver is 18 to 20 thousand
We talked to a sales man named Sajid Mehmood, who said he supply in 27 to 28 shops. And he
said he takes around 7 liter per day and if demand exceeds than he comes back and take more
goods.
Mostly the transaction is done on cash basis but for corporate clients credit is also given.

performance. There is a fuel limit given to the sales people i.e. one day in Lahore is 260km plus
radius.

The process of transaction was as follows:

Sales man comes to the factory

Pays the cash and gets receipt
Gets the goods loaded which is monitored by dawn bread factory person
The gate keeper checks the goods and receipt when the delivery vehicle leaves the factory
Sales man goes to different shops assigned to him
Give goods and gets cash
The shopkeeper checks the quantity and then pays cash
Sales man takes the cash and keeps in the financial office.

Financial office was located in the warehouse and it was a very small, only two or three person
can stand there. Chacha culture was prevalent there.
Moreover the interesting thing was that the sales man pays the factory and then takes the goods
for delivery and if he is unable to sell some of it then he can return it to the company and take his
money back. Whenever goods are loaded in the trucks there was specific way of keeping cartons
such as horizontal or vertical forms.
The expired goods are given as animal food free of charge.
One thing we noticed over there was no fixed parking system. No proper management for the
trucks and vans. There was so hast le and bustle.
The work environment was a mixture of formal and informal system.
Overall it was a good experience to visit such a place to see the cash transactions being
processed and going with the delivery. This visit added in our knowledge regarding the actual
sale process. It was good to know about all this.
