BCC Intensive English Program Grade Seven

Course Syllabus for Semester 1 / 2015-2016


Course Objectives:
This course is an outcomes-based, English language enrichment course designed to
develop and consolidate students skills in the areas of Listening, Speaking, Reading
and Writing. Specific course objectives include:

To encourage students to be active and constructive in their own learning, using


English as a tool to create meaning, seek knowledge, and to interact effectively
with others in the school context and in the broader community.
To extend students competence and confidence in using English in a range of
demanding and challenging contexts.
To integrate learning English with other areas of the College curriculum.
To encourage students to become responsible, independent, reflective learners.
To promote an atmosphere of collaboration and co-operation amongst students.

Teaching Learning Materials and Resources
Student coursebook; workbook; support and assistance of Thai Language Teachers;
flashcards; audio cassettes; supplementary video cassettes; materials to complete
projects and activities (construction paper, coloured markers, paint etc); overhead
projector; television; video; cassette/CD player.

Students will read texts and listen to audio about hobbies and clubs. They
will talk about their free time activities and about their likes and dislikes.
Students will study present simple; positive and negative and questions and
short answers. They will also study like + ing.

Unit 2: Helping other people

Are you a volunteer?
Students will read texts and listen to audio about volunteer activities. They
will also talk about activities happening now, housework, and arranging to
meet and making plans.

Students will study present continuous for activities happening now. They
will also study the difference between present simple and present
continuous.

Week 7: June 22-28

Students will read texts and listen to audio about heroes. They will talk about
past events, and they will talk about when and where they were born.
Students will study past simple, the verb to be, and regular verbs; positive
and negative. They will also study was born and were born.

Students will read texts and listen to audio about the meaning of success.
They will talk about obligations, describe job requirements, and talk about
people and their jobs.
