Safety and Cautions

This equipment is to be used by trained firefighting personnel only. Failure to
obtain proper training may result in severe injury or death.
Do not exceed maximum operating pressure. Exceeding the maximum rated
pressure for this appliance may cause malfunction, or failure resulting in severe
injury or death.
Failure of fittings and hoses can result in injury. Use caution not to exceed hose
pressures as stated in NFPA 1961 for the type of hose being used.
Make sure all connections are secure and complete. Failure to ensure proper
connection may result in leaks or cause the devices to become disconnected
under pressure, resulting in injury or death.
Open and close all valves slowly. Failure to operate valves slowly may cause
water hammer, which may result in damage or failure of hose, coupling devices,
and appliances leading to injury or death.
Do not use if damaged. Damage to product may cause malfunction or failure.
Remove from service until unit can be repaired.
Check for damage or worn coupling connections. Damage or worn connections
may become disconnected under pressure. Remove from service to be repaired
by an AWG certified repair facility.
For use with fresh or salt water, with or without fire fighting foam.
Altering of this device may reduce its operating effectiveness, or safety. Do not
alter or change in any way from its intended design.

Fire fighting foam operations require special training and

presents its own set of hazards. Personnel should not engage
in foam operations until they have had proper training in foam
operations. Failure to do so may lead to severe injury or
death.
This appliance may only be used by properly trained fire
fighting personnel who have read and understand the proper
operation of this equipment. Failure to receive the proper
training or understanding the operation of this equipment may
lead to its improper use and lead to serious injury or death.
Pressurized water streams can cause injury to people. Use
caution when operating fire streams, do not intentionally direct
the fire stream at people.
Water can conduct electricity and applying water on or near
electrical equipment can cause injury or death from
electrocution.

This eductor operates on the Venturi principle, too much

pressure into the eductor will decrease the ability of the Venturi
to draw foam concentrate into the eductor. This can happen if
you need to compensate for an elevated foam fire stream. DO
NOT elevate the foam nozzle more that 60 above the fire
pump.

The in-line foam eductor operates in accordance with the

Venturi principle. A metering device regulates the introduction
of the foam concentrate at a ratio between 0.5% and 6%.
Operating at only 100 PSI for safer use. The eductor comes
with a female swivel inlet and male outlet and a clear PVC pickup hose with a Storz quick connection.
Check to be sure you have sufficient foam concentrate prior to
starting firefighting operations with foam equipment.
A sudden loss of foam solution may lead to a loss of the
protective foam blanket exposing personnel to flammable
vapors or active fire and can lead to severe injury or death.

Securely connect the appliance to the hose line.

If connected with a non-threaded coupling (i.e. Storz)
make sure the locking device is fully engaged, failure to
engage the locking device may lead to the nozzle
becoming disconnected under pressure.
Make sure all connections are secure and
complete. Failure to ensure the proper
connection may result in leaks or cause the
devices to become disconnected under pressure
resulting in injury or death.

Secure the pick-up tube to the foam concentrate inlet on the top
of the appliance.
Set the mix ratio with the adjustment knob on the side of the
appliance, indicated in percent of concentrate. The operator
must be sure to select the correct metering percentage for the
type of foam to be used. Incorrect mixture settings may result
in inadequate foam production and may lead to severe injury.

Slowly fill the hose line with water to prevent water

hammer. Water hammer can cause damage to fittings,
coupling or valves and cause the appliance to fail, leading
to injury.
The nozzle operator should bleed off any air trapped in the
hose line.
Slowly increase the water pressure to the desired operating
pressure. When the appliance reaches the operation
pressure the Venturi will create a sufficient vacuum to draw
concentrate into the eductor.
Make sure you have sufficient foam concentrate prior to
starting firefighting operations with foam equipment.
A sudden loss of foam solution may lead to a loss of the
protective foam blanket exposing personnel to flammable
vapors or active fire and can lead to severe injury or death.
When fire fighting operations are complete, slowly shut
down nozzle and decrease water pressure. Shut down
hose line and bleed off excess pressure before
disconnecting the appliance.
Bleed off any excess pressure in the hose lines before you
attempt to disconnect any hose or apparatus and
disconnect and drain hose lines. Attempting to disconnect
the appliance without removing pressure from the hose line
may result in injury.

Flush completely with fresh water after use. Some foam

concentrates may leave residue that may cause corrosion
or become sticky. This will interfere with the operation of
the Venturi and shorten the service life of this appliance.

Clean and inspect for damage before returning the

appliance to storage.

Check all o-rings and gaskets to ensure proper operation.

Exercise metering device routinely to ensure smooth operation.
Periodically clean and rinse the appliance to reduce the build up of
dirt and debris inside the appliance.
Flush completely with water after each use. Place the pickup tube in a bucket of fresh water to flush the tube and
Venturi while attached to the eductor, to remove residue from
inside the pick-up tube and the Venturi.
No lubrication necessary.
