What is IP?
IP stands for Internet Protocol. It is the central protocol in the Internet protocol family, which
consists of hundreds of sub-protocols such as DNS, HTTP and FTP. To access these protocols,
AG NetTools uses the WinSock Library and other higher level programming interfaces (APIs).
Below is a list of protocols used.

User Datagram Protocol (UDP)
File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
HTTP
Finger
Whois
For details about these protocols, please check your system documentation, the Microsoft Web
site, or the Internet. A good site containing valuable information is http://ds.internic.net. Another
good source of information is http://www.iana.org. The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority
(IANA) is in charge of all "unique parameters" on the Internet such as IP addresses and port
numbers.

Port Numbers and Descriptions

The port numbers and descriptions file, used by AG NetTools, is downloaded from the
IANA site. This file contains a listing describing all well known and registered port numbers.

To access this information, AG NetTools uses ipconfig.exe under Windows NT and
winipcfg.exe under Windows 95. This information includes the following:
