Dear Assistant Secretary Myers,

[ am writing to request participation in the Delegation of immigration Authority program

pursuant to Section 287(g) orlhe Immigrati on and Notionality Act. My agency has a strong
working partnership with ICE, and the ability of my deputies to enforce immigration law under
Ihis program will further strengthen this relationship and enable both agencies to better serve ollr
community.

My office has been in communication with Ass istant Special Agent in Charge bll6l.,jblHllC in
your Chicago field omce. She has been very helpful and has provi ded valuable input regarding
Ihe 287(g) program and other partnerships between ICE and local law enforcement.

1 propose that four (4) Sheriffs Deputies who have a minimum of two years cxperiencc Ilnd who
have passed a security background investigation undergo 287(g) training. Thesc deputies would
in turn be responsible for conducting investigations cooperalively with ICE agents rcgardjn~'
human trafficking and document fraud. Additionnlly, these deputies would regularly srreen
inmates booked into the Doone County Jail to identify inc;ucerated criminnl aliem".

This program will allow LI S 10 enler into a Memorandum of Understanding cnablifl"~ our agency 10
work more closely with ICE to identi fy and prosec ute criminal aliens who pose a rsk to the
