November Meeting Minutes:

November meeting minutes were approved.

Budget:
1. Teacher Appreciation – Budgeted $600, paid $1072 ($680 of this was for GCs to teachers and staff).
2. PA Dues - 85% of families paid, but 12 families have not paid. About 80 families in the school.
3. Ask room parents to collect outstanding PA dues. “Please call these 3 families and ask them to give
the check to you. Amount is flexible. Would be great to have 100% participation!”

Class Pictures: Proofs came in. The retake pictures arrived yesterday and will be distributed.

Past Events - Building Dedication:

It was a true community event that included different clergy, organizations, supporters, and families.
Mad Science was fun for the kids. A minion (of men only?) was led by Rabbi Dan. Mike will ask Dean.

Upcoming Events
1. Winter Concert: Amy will put signs up tomorrow about tomorrow’s Winter Concert.
2. Chanukah Celebration:
1. Will be on 12/18 from 2-3 pm, after school. Middle school students will clean up.
2. Need new supplier for donuts. We can use Krispy Kreme (ask grocery to deliver?), Entenmann’s,
Oakland Kosher, Grand Bakery. School, not PA, pays for Joel to sing at the event.
3. $200 budget includes 6-dozen jelly donuts and goody bags with gelt and a dreidel.

Room Parents: Need to better define role. Need a room parent liason/coordinator.

Food Program:
1. $1000 in PA budget for kitchen supplies, of which $335 is left. Michaella spent $500 for kitchen
supplies, which will be koshered. Need to inventory the supplies.
2. All food must be kosher.
3. No frying in the kitchen.
4. Need easy to make lunches. Pasta w/salad & small brownie bite (to get kids to ask parents to sign
them up). Burrito (beans, rice, cheese). Good to start with Thursdays that aren’t Hot Dog lunch days.
5. People have asked for other food options than “unhealthy hot dogs”. Would they be willing to pay
more for chicken breast sandwiches instead? It’s a volunteer run program.
6. Talk about the food program in January, or decide to have a separate meeting time for this topic.

Dean’s Report:
1. On Tuesday 1/19/2010 at 9:15 am in the Makom, there will be a session on Reading Together As A
Family by Diane Frankenstein. It is co-sponsored by JFCF. There will be a light breakfast.
2. After school enrichment starts January. There are 2 options for drama. First is Barrett Lindsay-Steiner
that will result in a K-8 performance in mid March. Second is the School Play run by Lisa Tateosian.
The Middle Schools will select the play. Students K-8 may participate. The middle school electives of
drama, rock band, and journalism will all work on play related items starting in January.
3. Middle school activities – ice skating at the Walnut Creek Ice Rink.
4. There are two Open Houses coming up in January.

Next PA Meeting & Attendance:

1. Need a banner outside before the meeting advertising the event. “CCJDS PA Meeting Thursday”
“You make the difference!” Why don’t people come to the meetings? Call people.
2. Next meeting is on Thursday, January 14, 2010.

Meeting adjourned at 9:00 am.
