Main focus: - relative pronouns and adverbs introducing relative clauses
- ways of expressing ability: can, could and be able to
- reported speech statements and questions
Objective 1 - to encourage students to produce elaborate sentences using
relative pronouns and adverbs
Objective 2: - to review some characteristics of modal verbs and practise can
Objective 3: - to have students retell what they hear
Objective 4: - to stimulate communicative interaction
The goal of the teacher for this lesson is to synthesize everything that students have
learned lately by way of a review session. This lesson plan consists of carefully selected
exercises and activities to ensure maximum student retention without overwhelming
learners with complicated rules and unrealistic expectations.
Assumed knowledge:
- SS know the difference between defining and non-defining
relative clauses. They know what reported speech is and the
changes that appear when reporting someones actual words.
Anticipated problems:
- If she thinks it is necessary, the teacher will offer the students guidance in
solving certain exercises.
Assessment activity: the students will be assessed on class participation

Resources and materials: blackboard, teachers materials, textbook

Procedure:
I. Warm up: (Estimated time: 2 minutes)
T: greets students, asks informal questions
SS: answer informal questions, get ready for the lesson
II. Announcing the main focus of the revision: (Estimated time: 2 minutes)
T: informs SS on the structures that they are going to practise
SS: take notes
III. Setting the steps of the revision plan: (Estimated time: 2 minutes)
T: writes on the blackboard the steps of the plan, announces the objectives
SS: take notes
IV. Achievement of the plan:
Objective 1: Revising relative clauses (Estimated time: 10 minutes)
a) Context: The movie industry
b) Activity/Class organization: T asks SS about the relative pronouns and
the adverbs that introduce relative clauses. Then SS are asked to tell the
difference between defining and non-defining relative clauses and to
solve an exercise individually.
SS answer the teachers questions, give examples, definitions and solve
the exercise indicated by the teacher. (See list of activities)
c) Aids: Blackboard, worksheets
Objective 2: Expressing ability present, past and future. (Estimated time: 10
minutes)
a) Context: Abilities at different ages.
b) Activity/Class organization: T asks SS to tell some characteristics of
modal verbs. They are given exercises to solve and are asked to
explain the use of can, could and be able to. (See list of
activities)
SS answer the teachers questions, solve exercises.
c) Aids: Blackboard, worksheets
Objective 3: Practising reported speech. (Estimated time: 10 minutes)

a) Context: Situation
b) Activity/Class organization: T asks students to tell what reported
speech is. They are also asked to mention the verbs used to report
someones words and the transformations that appear. The teacher
asks students to solve an exercise. (See list of activities).
SS answer the teachers questions, give examples and solve the
exercise indicated by the teacher.

Objective 4: Providing practice and opportunity for communicative interaction
