Gas Fuel System Pre-Commissioning

GENERAL GUIDELINES
Purpose/Scope
This work package encompasses all

requirements for commissioning, both


mechanically and electrically, the Gas Fuel
System. The Gas Fuel System also
includes the control components in the
MTTB and GTTB on the enclosure
assembly.
Precautions
All personnel who will be working with, on, or around
Gas Fuel associated with this system should review the
appropriate MSDS sheets.
Proper care should be given to the transportation and
handling of gas fuel.
Refer to all company guidelines and procedures when
working around gas fuel in this system.

MECHANICAL CHECKS
1.

Verify mechanical components are connected according to fuel system F&ID.

2.

Verify system piping to skid has been cleaned and free of debris.

3.

Check tightness of all fittings and flanges.

4.

Verify proper filters and strainers are in use.

5.

Check opening and closing of all drain, vent and shutoff valves.

6.

Verify gas blow has been performed in accordance with latest approved Engineering
Procedure No. 289644 and lines from customer interface have been cleaned.

7.

Verify all vent lines are installed according to the F&ID and have continuous
discharge to the atmosphere.
NOTICE
VERIFY FUEL MEETS GE SPECIFICATIONS PRIOR TO ADMITTING TO THE
TURBINE. INSERT ANALYSIS REPORT IN THIS SECTION.

8.

Verify sample has been taken and analysis results meets GE specifications.

9.

Check opening and position of gas fuel control valve; hydraulic pressure should be available (Turbine cranking
@ approximately 2200 rpm is needed to stroke valve).
Use calibration function on the HMI. Verify correct valve calibration.
Go to 0, 25, 50,100 and 0 % of travel. Check that demand and feedback match.
Physically check the valve movement in fuel skid.

ELECTRICAL CHECKS
11.

Verify operation of analog and discrete readouts.

12.

Inspect for visible damage to any cable or termination.

13.

Check for adequate distance between power, control, and instrument cables.

14.

Check conductor connections at both ends; identification labels should be attached


to each conductor.

15.

Verify size and current capacity of conductors is suitable for application.

16.

Check means of cable protection against mechanical damage at points where cables
leave cable trays or enter package.

17.

Check grounding connections.


INSTRUMENTATION CHECKS

18.

Perform point-to-point checks using packaged supplied interconnect drawings.


Highlight drawing accordingly and insert signed copy in this section.

19.

Check and verify operation of analog and discrete readouts.

20.

Verify ranges and set points for all instrumentation listed in Gas Fuel System
Instrumentation Sheet. Mark each instrument as calibrated or verified in appropriate
column.

21.

Check functioning of control switches.

22.

Verify the following records have been updated;

Gas Fuel System Interconnect Wiring Diagrams
